Skaters,

Hi, everyone! I am very excited that my aplication was approved. Some of you
know me, some don't. I'm the one that skated Trans-USA last year, and am going
to be doing it again in August. You might be thinking, dead of winter last time,
dead of summer this time, are you crazy? The obvious ansewer is yes. I am crazy
about skating, like all of you.

Instead of writing another long draft about myself, I figured that it would be
better to just post the application that I sent in.

Thanks for reading,
Danny Dannels

If you are a Certified Instructor,
where: na
when: na
by whom were you certified: I sure would like to be certified. I would also like
to be a member of the NSP, and any other organizations that promote the love of
skating.

I have skated for 13-14 years as a recreational skater and skate commuter. I
started racing inline marathons in 2005. I won the North American Inline
Marathon Series Advanced Division in 2006. I raced my first official pro race in
2007, at the bequest of my head coach, Mike Harris. I beat a Guinness World
Record in 2008, skating Trans-USA from Solana Beach, CA to Atlantic Beach, FL
(2555 continuous miles) in 67 days 10 hours 45 minutes. Whew!

I have written a book about the Trans-USA event called "The Long Skate". It is
available for free here:

I am currently filming a reality show about skating across the United States
again. I invite anyone who cares to learn about my life and team to watch The
Long Skate on Youtube and MySpace. I will post weekly shows about the things
that I am up to in preparation for the event. My ultimate focus is to market the
series to television. That way we can get national exposure for this thing we
love. It is a scary concept for me to share the intimate details of my life to
people that I have never met through television, but, I am willing. This thing I
love is so important to me that I can and will leave the comfort zone of my life
to get more people skating.

I am also filming a speed skating "primer". It will be available for free on my
web pages. It is designed to help new and/or isolated skaters with information
on technique and product selection. My technique coach, Brenda Harris, has
previewed the script for content.

I hope to network here. I know many of the people here and would like to meet
the others. I hope to be able to feature them and their skating projects in my
own projects. I will be a great way to increase participation in skating of all
forms through increased awareness.

I seemed to have created a bit of a cult following out there that I didn¢t
expect, with the last Trans-USA skate. That is why I think that I have an edge
here that few others do: I am the wrong person for the job.

I am not an Olympian, a celebrity, or an actor. I have had a hard life and
struggled to break cycles that could have doomed me. I am just an average guy
that loves skating so much, that I am willing to expose my weaknesses for the
world to see, and, that is what makes reality television work. The nation loves
to watch imperfect people fail or succeed, as long as there is human drama.

My Myspace blog has a proposal posted right before the press release blog. It
will give you more of an idea of where I am headed with this.

If you have anymore questions, I am happy to answer them.

Sincerely,
Danny Dannels
