I have a friend trying to get rid of some Wilco tickets for next Wednesday up at Purdue. They're 20th row at Elliot Hall, $32/ea. Let me know if you or anyone else is interested. Three are available.
Indy Chico's will be at a combo practice
with Cincy this weekend. No practice at Sahm this Sunday.

Masters Practice on Sunday??
Gents,
Are you having practice on Sunday? Same time?
GLUE may or may not have practice on Sunday, as Nick will
be out of town. I am trying to organize a practice for GLUE, but
am not getting my hopes up with Nick not organizing it.
Reason for email: If we don't have practice on Sunday,
are you still looking for people, such as myself, to help practice with
your team on Sunday? I would like to work hard on Sunday and wanted
to see what both of you thought.
Broads,
Any word about turning on the lights these days? On Tuesday, the football
teams led the way off the fields as darkness arrived....
Thanks much in advance for checking,
The Thankful Members of Team Twilight
Hoping to be there as well.
Woody
PS Lots of communication about pickup is almost always a good way to
encourage more people to show. :) A number of folks expressed an interest on
Tuesday as well.

I plan on being there, if a little late. Has turnout really been that bad?

Looks like the weather is going to be decent, and I know the Wabash team
is bringing a car or two of guys down, so we should have good
numbers. See you guys out there!

As if you needed a reason to come out and celebrate this Friday night
(Sep 29th) at Howl at the Moon in downtown Indy...I'll give you two:
1) Friday is the last day of my last internship for grad school...the day I officially graduate!!! wohooo!!!
2) My golden birthday...I'll be 26 this Tues the 26th :)
and some more:
3) We huck, we hammer, we win, we lose, we get muddy, and we sweat A LOT, but I'm just not sure we really celebrate often enough!
4) Make some new friends...because we're also celebrating the golden birthday of one of my good friends (27 on the 27th) and another good friend's going away party!
THE plan...dinner at the Claddagh at 7pm (just south of the
circle on Meridian) then walk a block or two to Howl at the Moon around
8:30-9pm for some dancing, IU fight song singing good times (and
maybe some of those other Indiana schools, too) :)
If
you plan to join us for dinner, please let me know (so I can make
enough reservations), otherwise we'll see you at Howl at the Moon :)
And invite as many friends as your little hearts desire! Oh, and if you have no idea I am, come anyway, it would be hilarious :) Looking forward to seeing you all Friday night!
Exercise outruns excuses
Michelle Pountney
September 21, 2006 12:00am
Article from: Herald-Sun
PEOPLE who say they have no time to exercise no longer have any excuse,
according to a new study.
Intense exercise in short bursts, as little as three minutes, separated by a
few minutes of recovery during a training session of 20 minutes, can provide
adequate exercise.
Performing three such sessions a week can provide the same benefits as up to
two hours of moderate exercise a day.
The study, published in the Journal of Physiology, compared two training
regimes among 16 young men over two weeks.
Eight subjects performed between four and six 30-second bursts of all-out
cycling separated by four minutes of recovery during each of the training
sessions. The others did 90-120 minutes of continuous moderate-intensity
cycling.
Despite the sprint group doing 2 1/2 hours of total training time and the
endurance group doing 10 1/2 hours of exercise, both groups showed similar
improvements in exercise performance and the ability of muscles to resist
fatigue.
But for exercisers wanting to lose weight, the high-intensity training does
not burn as many calories as endurance exercise.

I also hope everyone can make it out Thursday at 6:30 at Riverside, but unfortunately I will be out of town for work. Someone please bring cones, and if you are playing sectionals this weekend, don't get yourself hurt at pickup.

I have received about 20+ responses
for interest in States. I believe there are more Indy folks that
would like to play at States, so....
Please respond "IN"
if you are interested and have not already done so.
I would like to get about 15 more
responses of "IN" so we can divide into 2 Indy teams for the
tourney. I will let you know how our teams are looking as soon as
others have had a chance to respond.

From the "Ultimate Best predictor of school's academic strength" thread on
rec.sport.disc.
"A study being released September 1 of all private national
universities shows that their ranking in Ultimate Frisbee edges out
both SATs and grades as a predictor of academic performance! Those
ranked in the top half for Ultimate have a graduation rate of over 85%,
while those in the bottom half just 60%. The top seven have nearly as
many Rhodes scholars and Marshall scholars as all others combined."
...
"Why a game, requiring such all-around athleticism [, enthusiasm, teamwork,
discipline/dedication, creative/critical thinking, and enjoyment found in
collectively and individually pursuing the performing (and liberal) arts and
athletics] should so consistently be dominated by universities (and
presumably students) with off-the-chart academic credentials, is truly a
mystery."
See http://www.prweb.com/releases/ultimate/ranking/prweb431459.htm for more
information.

Tuesday Night Practice is on Rain or
Shine. Riverside 6:00.
See you at the fields tonight. Some
of Chico's will be there getting in a work-out. Be ready to start
on a warm-up run at 6:00 and then sprints and drills to follow.
We'll have a grill and some cold ones for afterwards. I have
the Master's VIP parking cones still in the Jeep from this weekend, so
cones are no issue. Bring some discs.

Tony,
Good news! There are games for new and even the older (or is it veteran)
players in town. I included some information below this message from the
"area pickup" link on the Indianapolis Ultimate Association web page at
http://indyultimate.danconia.org/cgi-bin/request?handler=Content;content=StaticP\
age;label=pickup
Hopefully there will be a good turnout (and snacks) today since the weather
is nearly perfect for Ultimate (and eating outside).

Riverside Park
Park is located at 2420 East Riverside Drive, Indianapolis, IN. Play is on
the fields next to the tennis courts at the northwest part of the park.
Tuesdays 6:30-9:30pm, and Saturdays starting at 12-12:30pm. Play is open to
anyone of any skill level and generally draws a very mixed crowd of
experience levels and personalities. Most people will be wearing cleats.

fyi...Indy pick-up is good Ultimate.
Tuesdays and Thursdays at River Side Park 6:30 till dark. We
had a great time on Tuesday night. Seven players from Butler showed
for some good Ultimate. I expect there will be a solid turn-out
tonight as well.
Sahm has a disc golf coarse. It's
a sweet 18 with all cement tee pads! See you on Sunday.

work on plays and have a scrimmage at the end of practice. Give it a shot!
We start at around 11:15 on Sunday mornings and go 'til around 1:30. The
