Ron has stepped down for next season. If you're up for it Clemens, I'm sure Ben
would welcome your assistance. Thanks!

Bob, Jeff Savage Refinishing is located at 1500 E Main Street. It is one of
the businesses where the old Carson Ford dealership used to be. They are in
the back on the west side of the main building.

I've had some work done at M&M in Brownsburg. Always top quality.

If you are on the west side, Jeff Savage Auto Refinishing in Brownsburg does
nice work. The number is 317-441-2714. He fixed the fender and door on my
old Miata and the front grill on my New Beetle. Excellent color match and
attention to detail.

What part of town? Tom Wood Ford on the north side did a bang-up job (so to
speak) on my SRT-4 when the front passenger door got crushed in by a psychotic
teenager a few months ago. I've also heard great things about Sayre's in
Mccordsville. Might tell him to look into carbon fiber hoods, the stocker
costs a freakin' fortune.

Thanks Ben. Ask around and see if someone wants to step up and co-coordinate

I'm checking with Jack Banker to see if he would like to return as Waiver Chief
for 2010 so that leaves us with Bus and Trophies.

Still looking for a Bus Chief, Waiver Chief, and Trophy Chief. Pauletta, if
you'd like to head up Registration, you're more than welcome. We need someone
who can tolerate Bob enough to work with him...lol.
I'd also like to line up a Rookie Coordinator for the year. Any vets willing to
step up and help me out with that? :)
Here's your chance to contribute to the success of the Solo program!
Thanks all!
Scott

I'm hoping to get SSS licensed also but we'll see if I have time to make that
happen. Thanks for coming back as Worker Chief, Ben!
I have filled the T&S position with Bob moving from Tech to T&S and Kyle Roland
stepping up as Tech Chief. Thanks Kyle!
I have also confirmed Dauber as Equipment Chief. Thanks Darren!
I'm still looking for Registration, Waiver, and Trophy Chiefs. I'd also like
someone to take charge of the bus. And if anyone would like to co-chair with me
this year, your help would be greatly appreciated..
Thanks everyone!
Scott

I'll keep the worker Scott. I can learn more stuff throughout the year
for the 2011 season as well. I plan on getting a safety steward license as
well.

Clemens, I work at Tom Wood Subaru. Get me a little closer as far as what
vehicle the axles are from and I'll get you all the service info you'd
need.

You might have some luck with raxles.com. Â They do good work, with short turn
around. Â I believe that they do custom work, and motorsports axles as well. Â I
know this doesn't help you get the thing apart, but if it is a nonstandard part
(and it sounds like it is), they are a highly regarded option for a replacement.
Good luck!

I agree that a shop manual is a good investment, especially when purchased
at a
discount. Since my car is not a Subaru and only has a couple of Subaru
components installed, the Subaru manual is probably not money well spent. Once
I figure out the CV joint issue, I may never need to look at that manual again.
I spent a couple of hours yesterday searching the Internet. Amongst others, I
found nasioc, but did not come up with much useful information. What I did
find applied to other Subaru models and the most common advice was to not mess
with the CV joint but to replace the entire drive axle. However, my problem is
not with the CV joint, but with the axle itself, which is not stock.

Bob,
I don't have experience with VW CV joints, but based on your description, my
Subaru CV is similar in the way that the housing in only open towards the
shaft. There is no axial play whatsoever in the outer Subaru joint and some
yanking did not do anything. I noticed that one of the ball pockets in the
cage is wider than the others. Maybe that's the point where to start, but with
not success so far.
The engine in the Zonker is a V-4 Honda. It is a VFR700, sleeved down to 620
ccm. I believe since it's been built, the displacement limit went up to 680
ccm. The turbocharge on it also came from a Subaru Justy.
The engine is currently one big question mark. Even if the peak hp is
competitive, something I have yet to find out, driveability is a big concern of
mine. What may work for a road race may be no good for an autocross. Only
time will tell.

Clemens, based on my experience with Volkswagen CV joints, there may
be a snap ring buried in the grease that you can't see. On some VW
joints, you had to go fishing with a couple of very small
screwdrivers to manipulate the snap ring. On others, you just had to
give the joint a good yank axially to get it apart. The outers were
always the hardest to get apart, because, on VWs, the outer is
basically a cup so you can only get at one side of the joint.
By the way, I've been meaning to ask, what is the power plant in your
car? I understand it's a turbo something. Bike motor or small car engine?
Bob...
Also, go on ebay or search online for the "service manual" or "service manuals"

release bearing") A friend bought an old trans am that didn't run. We got the
original service manual for it.. We had it running and the clutch changed just a
few weeks after he got it, and neither of us had ever done a clutch job
before... Trust me they're worth the investment... I have the service manuals
for my car and bust them out at every repair/maintenance. They tell you just
about every specific piece of information you need, from how many torque ft/lbs
go on your trunk lid bolts, to width of an engine cylinder...

The purpose of the Involved Member Award is to recognize Indianapolis Region
members who exhibit exceptional participation during the year. It is not a
competition between members. In fact, the more award recipients the better. It
is truly a celebration of dedication, support and commitment to Indy Region
SCCA.
An Involved member award will be presented to each Indianapolis Region member,
16 years of age and older, who earns a minimum of 800 points in a calendar year
by participating in at least two of the following four areas of participation:
meetings and other club-sponsored special events, rally, race and solo. An
Involved member award will be presented to each Indianapolis Region junior
member, under 16 years of age, who earns a minimum of 400 points in a calendar
year by participating in at least two of the areas of participation. The
Involved member award will be an embroidered lightweight jacket or fleece. A
member will be awarded a jacket only once in every 5 calendar years (example: a
winner presented a jacket in 2008 is eligible again in 2013). Repeat awards
within the 5 calendar years will be recognized by embroidering of the award year
on the jacket.
Each member is solely responsible for tracking and reporting their points; no
one else will do this for you. To be eligible for an award, the Indy Region
member must fill out the points reporting form which can be found in the
November ClutchChatter or a reasonable facsimile and mail or e-mail it to the
Membership Chair. The form can also be downloaded in Excel format from our
website under information and forms, All forms must be received no later than
December 31st of the year in order to be eligible for an Involved Member Award
for that year. Confirming receipt of submitted points is the sole responsibility
of the entrant. A person's eligibility will be verified by the Membership
Chairman.
