We'll have the equipment bus up at the Converse site about 2-2:30 PM on
Saturday, June 5th to start preparing the course. Everyone who is able
to help is encouraged to show up, because of the age, condition, and
distance of the site.
The event will run Sunday as per the normal schedule.
I will be out of town on business Tuesday afternoon to Thursday night,
so I won't be monitoring my email.

The only non-Sunday event I am aware of on the schedule (unless Darren has
changed this) is the Australian Pursuit on Saturday, July 17.

I need an alignment on my '01 Impreza RS. I have slightly uneven wear on my
street tires, probably due to the "autocross" alignment I had done last summer.
I don't think have artificially limited the life on my tires, but I want to
adjust the toe before I put replacement rubber on.

OK...I'll jump on the "Love Wagon"...thanks to all who help in the
Solo II program and especially those who take pictures. I always
anticipate reliving the event when the pictures are posted.
A while back, someone (Chad, maybe?) posted that the original digital
picture files (un-reduced) may be available. I am interested in
getting a few of the original files from the pictures from the last
event as well as maybe a few more from other events. Who can I send
an email to?
Thanks,

Sorry Chad! I took some pics of the normal stuff, in
the first run group and then interesting pictures kept happening! Lots
of great drivers power sliding in the middle of corners with smoking
tires and slinging gravel! Hope I didn't go overboard. I just am not
interested in seeing the sames pictures of the same car in the middle of
the same corner.
Hope everyone liked the ones I took of the first

The rules for Solo II don't specify much more that closed toe shoes. Solo I
and other high speed events require a minimum of 100% cotton long pants,
long sleeve shirt and socks. I would suggest the same for drivers and
passengers in Solo II. 100% natural (cotton, wool, etc) fibers not blends
with synthetics are best. The synthetics will melt to your skin and cause
more problems. For actual racing, Bell recommends wearing 100% cotton under
any fire retardant materials. When the fire retardant runs out Nomex, etc
will melt. Oh yea and to make it even better those leather shoes will shrink
in a fire and crush your feet.

last sunday at the 1st divisional meet in rantoul their was this
little spitfire open car with a ford mustang turbo 4 cyl engine,, it
was their last year and i had talked to the guy about his little car,
it was sort of a life long project and he had lots of hours and hard
work in it. This year he had made some more improvements, was a nice
little car.. This thing caught fire in a BIG BIG way with flames up
to at least 10 feet, and the realy scary thing was it breached the
firewall and engulfed the passenger seat.. luckly there was no one
rideing along ,,, i think the car had stoped but when i first saw it
the whole car was a ball of flames,, i talked to the driver and he
said it didn't take him long to figure out that he needed to get out
and fast.. he eneded up with some minor burns on his right arm and
hand,, this is the type of thing i never thought i would see at an
autocross event,,, you would not believe how fast the fire went out
when sprayed with one of those little fire extinguisher,, but then it
was still burning under the hood and by now the hood is HOT HOT so
it took them a while to get the hood off and finish the job.. after
it caught fire there seemed to be a short time where people were
confused as to where the fire extinguisher's were, everyone was just
shocked at the size of the fire and how quick it all happened,, so at
your next event just look around and be aware of the placement of the
extinguisher's , you just never know when you might need them, their
should always be one at every corner station,, if you have a car that
has been modified you might want to double check you firewall, after
all that's why they call it a firewall
I want to add my own apology to that. It looks like the errors in the grid
lists mostly came when I was doing registration by myself. On the one hand that
means there's no one else I can blame. (Could this be proof that I really am an
idiot?) On the other, well, it looks like registration really does require
having two or more folk working at a time.
That said, any help we can get running registration and T&S (for that matter,
any help we can get with anything) for the next event would be highly
appreciated.

I just wanted to apologize to you guys for the long delay before
starting the first run group. The bottom line was that there wasn't
much experience in the trailer with timing and scoring. David was
busy trying to get the Grid List corrected (mind you he was in the
first run group) and Darren always has a million things going on.
If you have never been in the trailer working T&S then you have no
idea how hectic a job that is.
With that in mind, I volunteer to be T&S Chief for the next event.
I watched how the computer T&S worked very closely and I have a
higher level of comfort doing it now.
I also wanted to mention what a blast I had running FS yesterday.
The top 3 cars were all very very close (we finished 19th, 20th, and
21st in PAX). I also got to experience Sean Murphy's driving style
from the passenger seat. He must have felt sorry for me because he
didn't take out any cones and I didn't need a new set of underwear
(plus he beat me anyway).

(very off-topic)
Sorry about the off-topic post, but we wanted to offer this up to fellow
Parrotheads (if you don't know what a Parrothead is, press the "delete"
key now).
Tired of fighting traffic going to Deer Creek (no, I will not refer to
it's corporate name - I don't like that company)?
Want the VIP treatment with no-waiting, immediate entrance and exit from
the parking lot before and after the show? Want to park and have fun
with all the other Parrotheads in the big bus parking lot directly
behind the lawn seating area?
We are again this year arranging private bus transportation (via an
honest-to-goodness yellow school bus) to the Thursday night, July 8
Jimmy Buffet concert.
Lot's of room available (it's a big yellow bus!).
Departure from my house on the northwest side (79th & Michigan area)
will be at approximately 4:30pm.
Cost should be less than $20 per person (the more people, the less it
costs).
Please contact me at racerlinn@... if you are interested.
We need to firm up the list of riders within the next couple weeks.
Again, sorry for the wasted bandwidth, I will only post this once,
please reply back to me directly and not to the indyscca egroup on this
matter.

My employer has a block of 40 tickets and 4 of those tickets remain
unsold for this years' Indy 500 race. They are in section 3 of the
Paddock, seats 13,14,15,16. These seats are located in the Paddock
across and to the left of entrance to Gasoline Alley. The tickets
are available for $90 (face value and firm) If interested call Kathy
O'Brien at 317-587-0738.
Anybody interested in attending the Women in the Winner's Circle event
on Monday, May 24th? Indy Region has four openings to fill.
Indy Region has been invited by SCCA President Steve Johnson to join him
at his table at the event here at the University of Indianapolis.
Apparently three new openings at his table showed up Thursday, and then
one other person had to decline due to the SBC strike. With such short
notice I am just opening it up to "first come, first served". The only
requirement is that you are a current SCCA member.
The event is put on and hosted by the Lyn St James Foundation. The list
of women participating includes Danica Patrick, Janet Guthrie, Sarah
Fisher, Milka Dunno, Jutta Kleinschmidt (Dakar rally winner), the Shawna
twins -- Marinus and Robinson, Denise McLuggage (Autoweek), and many
others. There are also several co-chairs who are big wigs in the racing
community.
The program includes a meet and greet from 11-Noon, followed by a
luncheon program, and then seminars put on by the drivers themselves
that run until 4PM.
If you would like to attend or want more information, please contact me
directly by calling 317-374-9984.

FYI...
Keep Indianapolis Beautiful and Firestone have teamed up to offer "a spring tire
clean up weekend" on Saturday May 22nd and Sunday May 23rd. All local
Indianapolis Firestone Storess will be drop-off locations for customers wanting
to get rid of their old and junk tires. Customers can drop off up to 8 tires (on
or off rims) at any one of 14 local Firestone Stores at no charge. (The normal
charge for tire disposal is $2 per tire).
A discount oil change coupon will be given to each and every one of these tire
recycling customers, and will be eligible to enter a drawing for a free set of 4
tires, to be given away by Firestone. You can also pick up our Indianapolis
Recycles Recycling Guide 2004 at any of these locations during this event.
Firestone sends all of its old tires to be recycled into playground mulch,
roadbed material, and rubberized asphalt.
If your neighborhood has tires that have been illegally dumped, please take this
opportunity to dispose of them for FREE, in an environmentally friendly way. You
can bring up to 8 tires per person to each location.
And, you could win a free set of tires for yourself!
