Subject: 2010 Arnold Fencing Classic & Scholarship
Hello everyone,
The 2010 Arnold Fencing Classic is adding new events for this year. There's
something for all fencers. Our events include:
Mixed Open
Cadet (U16) Open
RYC (Y10, Y12, Y14)
Registration has already begun. The Arnold Fencing Classic is a part of the
Arnold Sports Festival, the largest multi-sports festival in the nation. We are
size restricted, so register early to insure your spot. Register online at:
http://askfred.net/Events/Prereg/prereg.php?tournament_id=9862
Tournament details are at http://arnoldfencingclassic.com
SCHOLARSHIP:
Every year the Arnold Fencing Classic and the Columbus Rotary provide a $2,000
scholarship to the winner of an essay contest. This year's theme is "One blade
to rule them all."
To qualify you must be a competitor in the 2010 Arnold Fencing Classic, be
between 13 - 16 and submit an essay. Complete details are
at:http://arnoldfencingclassic.com/content/scholarship
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
In addition to visits from Arnold Schwarzenegger we have added to our cast of
Olympians Tim Moorehouse. Tim will be speaking to the fencers. We will be
having a wheelchair demonstration, Little Fencer exhibition (4 - 7 year olds)
and Veteran Epee exposition for the Active Aging portion of the festival (by
invitation only).
The Arnold Sports Festival draws 180,000+ athletes and spectators and is
entirely volunteer run. The Festival charges a daily admittance fee of $10.
Athletes will receive a three-day pass wristband to the Festival.
Unfortunately, we are not permitted to provide armbands to parents, siblings and
friends of the fencers. Coaches will only be permitted wristbands and allowed on
strip with students provided they are pre-registered on arnoldfencingclassic.com
and verified.
Interested in working at the Arnold? We're also looking for 30+ referees for all
three weapons. Contact us today if you're interested.
Kind Regards,
Julia Richey, Chair of the Arnold Fencing Classic

With Jim unable to get away from work more often, and I have been placed back on call again, we need a list of backup coaches to fill in for Jim or I when we cannot get in to teach our Tuesday classes from 6:30 to 7:30.
I would like to make a list of phone numbers of anyone willing to fill in. Those interested in helping can email their day time phone numbers to dl75davis@... . I will only share the list with Jim and Daniel Anez, the other 2 regular coaches, incase anyone wants to keep their numbers private.
Catherine Bouwcamp is up for USOC Female Athlete of the Month. Your vote can
help her get the title! http://twtpoll.com/lm64jn
Cat is the IndySabre wheelchair fencer that has been visiting IFC recently to
practice foil and epee. :-)
