Per a discussion with Tim Mills, the following changes had been
instituted at the Bladepoint Fencing Academy (BFA). These changes will
affect IFC members currently buying floor time at BFA.
Access to the facilty will only be on Tuesday and Thursday nights, and
Saturday afternoons (as opposed to the formerly agreed upon 7 days a
week open access).
No one will be allowed to give free lessons or footwork drills.
Everything will have a charge associated with it.
We are not to post anything in the facility with the IFC name in it,
including the ladders.
In order to avoid confusion, we are not to discuss the IFC with any
prospects, parents, or other clients of BFA.
Enter your vote today! A new poll has been created for the
indyfencingclub group:
What should the IFC's response be to the new ownership of AFA?
o Wait and see what happens.
o No problem, do nothing.
o Start looking for a new fencing location immediately.
o Start looking for a new location as a contingency.
o Other (please post your suggestions under the announcement).

It was announced tonight that Tim Mills is now the owner of Alexander's
Fencing Acadamy (he indicates that he will be re-naming it soon). Alex
is apparently moving to California.
Tim stated that Paul Geraci will be giving epee and foil lessons
starting next week.
I am unaware of any further changes planned at this time. If any of
you have additional information, please add to this post.
Also, please respond to the poll with your opionons regarding this
subject.
Thanks,
Bill
Bill - Thanks for the well wishes, but you really are an optimist. Have a great weekend.

Wish I could come and help with that tonight. Instead, I'll be home with a particular little girl and her feverish little head cold. :-)
I should be around Thurs, though.

p.s. Good luck at the NAC!!!

Folks,
Due to the bad weather tonight several of us did not fence. In order
to get some practice in, Tom and Nicholas Hanahan, Mike Trentadue and
myself will be getting together to fence epee at 6:30 PM tomorrow
night, Wed. March 5. Mike needs to get in some practice before he
leaves for the NAC so if you can make it, we will try to help him get
ready.
Thanks,
John Quatroche
Bill - All of these are great ideas. I will get you my dues next time I see you. Thanks.
From: indyfencingclub@yahoogroups.com [mailto:indyfencingclub@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of Bill Sent: Thursday, February 28, 2008 12:16 AM To: indyfencingclub@yahoogroups.com Subject: The New Indianapolis Fencing Club Format
The Indianapolis Fencing Club will, for now, no longer be supplying floor space or formal lessons. If it becomes necessary in the future to again provide this service, the IFC will do so. Individual coaching and lessons by club members are welcome and encouraged.
It is recommended that IFC members arrange for fencing time at AFA, Indy Saber, or any other fencing facility of your choice. Most of the current members have joined AFA and fence there regularly. Tuesday night, Thursday night, and Saturday afternoon seem to be the most popular times.
In keeping with its new format, the IFC dues are reduced to $25 per calendar year. This also means there is just one fee for all members, and there will not be different classes of membership (e.g. student or family).
The club will hold two tournaments each year for the enjoyment of its members, to promote fencing in Central Indiana, and to raise money for club use. All IFC members can fence for free at the tournaments. Volunteer assistance at the tournaments as directors or in other capacities is encouraged.
The club will provide IFC patches to all members.
There will be a summer club event that will include a club-only tournament with a pitch in meal. There will be other social events as desired by the membership.
The club ladders will be maintained and all members are encouraged to participate.
The equipment owned by the IFC (reels and boxes) has been appropriately marked and will be left at AFA for use by club members and other AFA fencers until it is needed by the club for other purposes.
I encourage all of you to remain members of the IFC and to fully participate in the club activities. Please give your dues payment to Marty Kramer, Jerry Adkins, or Bill Winget at your earliest convenience.
If you have any suggestions or ideas about club activities or anything else club related, please either reply to this message here in the Indyfencing Yahoo Group, send me an email, or grab me when you see me at AFA.
Best regards, Bill Winget IFC President

I have added two tables in the Database areas for the Epee and Foil
ladders. Anyone can update the ladders now. After a challenge bout,
please update the ladder appropriately, with either the new positions
or a successful defence. I will delete the two old ladder files.
We'll leave it open for updates on the honor system.
