Just as an FYI so you don't have to ask the same question.
I asked Tim the following question:
"Please clarify the start of open fencing. Is it really 7:45 and
are "non-competitive program" fencers basically standing around
waiting between 7:15 and 7:45?"
Here is his response:
"It's a little more loose than that. Rec fencers are, I hope,
participating in warm-up and footwork. In general, there should not
be an issue with rec taking a couple strips and fencing while the
program is going on. Officially, I don't want that on paper if you
can understand that. When we have situations like last Tuesdays
workshops and periodically have special things going in particular
affect that. So it's a judgment call based on numbers on both
sides. And if rec gets so big it becomes an issue we'll look at how
to adjust accordingly.
Hope that makes sense. I need to publish times, but in reality it's
a little more dynamic than that. Talk to me if you think the flow is
not working out."
So, I am not sure what time to show up. Open fencing seems to keep
get pushed to later and later. I guess we can show-up at 7:15 and
hope we have a strip, or show-up at 6:30 and hope we don't have to
stand around for half an hour waiting for a strip.
I am thinking that 3.5 hours of open fencing a week is a not really
worth $720/year (ok, ok, I guess I could show up on Saturdays
sometimes).
