Hold up Rick I'm not that old yet so you can kick that "Sir" stuff
in the butt right now (said with a smile on my face).

The Judgement Day poster is not my work. I'm affiliated to the BMAA
and the head instructor is running the competition, so I'm doing my
bit by promoting the event a little.

I do some freelance design work from time to time (business cards,
posters and letterheads etc).

Thank you sir;

I love the concept of that ebook store I was renting which made me a clickbank
affiliate for all clickbank products, but it, in my opinion had no personality
to it. So I redid it. I used iframes to keep from having to repeat my work
everytime I made a change. Did you do the poster yourself?

We have a little saying in our clubs "fair exchange is no robbery"
this refers to hit for hit, the other person counters with a hit of
there own even though they failed to defend from it. We teach to
look for openings when your attacker is pummelling you, as this is
when your attacker is most venerable to attack.

If you are not getting hit then you are not in a fight and the way
you train for the fight must reflect this. I wish it was possible
to block the first attack every time and land your opponent on the
floor with a devastating counter, but fights are unorganised and
unpredictable events.

I think taking body shots is just the tip of the iceberg so keep on
looking deeper and let us know what you find down there.

Just had a quick look at your free video clip.

A little old school training I see, but I would be more interested
in seeing training drills that help people stayed focused on their
opponent when they are under attack from various head strikes. The
head is the primary target for attackers so keeping your cool when
someone is trying to knock it off your shoulders can make all the
difference in a fight.

Its good to be able to take a body shot or 3 but from a self
protection side of things you need to focus on the areas that a real
attacker is going to aim for.

Keep kicking Trev

-----------------------------------------------------------
Definately an important part of training as well. I need to do a video on drills
to teach someone to roll with a punch. I never thought of it since it was normal
part of boxing training.

I do have my article on over coming fear and my blocking and evasive drills in
my drills ebook, but I need the head shot drills as well.

The main thing I'm trying to do with this video is give beginners and
intermediate a chance to learn to take body punches step by step and opposed to
"just learning as they go along".

There's drills to teach proper punching, kicking, blocking, but I've never seen
anything to teach drills starting with nonstriking to counter-attacking after
being hit. It's just as important as the other drills as far as I'm concerned

How to Take Strikes Better and Counter-Attack Even When You're Hurt
Properly learning to take strikes is as much a part of good self-defense and
martial arts training as learning to punch and kick. In all the years I've spent
in the martial arts however, I had never run across a good system of drills and
exercises to take students step by step in as safe as possible manner, through
the process of learning to take punches and kicks and increase the martial art
student's confidence and reflexes in order to counter-attack even if the student
has been injured.
Guess they don't call me “The Drill Man” for nothing. By utilizing my
background in Methods of Teaching Physical Education, Adaptive Physical
Education, coaching, and over 30 years of martial arts. I developed a method of
teaching students, either one on one or in groups, how to take punches and kicks
AND develop a reflex to hit back even if your students are hurt.
These video clips contain my entire method of training students to take strikes
from the beginning of non-striking drills all the way to developing a reflex of
counter-attacking EVEN WHEN THE STUDENT IS HURT.
It's not pretty and not meant to be. In fact, I really don't want the people
attracted to buying things off TV because they're flashy to buy these clips. I
want people interested in martial arts and self-defense to get these clips. I
want the people who order my method of learning to take strikes better to see my
shirt with the dirty foot print in it to know I took this clip while I was
training with some serious people.
This can be used for the individual training on his/her own or an instructor
with a large class.
I'm taking a chance on your honesty by giving you direct access to your clips
you can EVEN WATCH THEM ON YOUR POCKET PC, but PLEASE do not upload these clips
to a website or email them to friends. Like all authors I feed my family with my
work.

Hi Kuma,

Firstly I live and teach in the UK so things are different for me.
Not knowing exactly how things work in your neck of the woods I
would contact every insurance company in the area for quotations on
insurance and these are the things you should be looking for:

Some form of public liability insurance

Student personal injury cover (this should be included in their
training fees or paid for directly by the student, we have ours as
part of the licence fee).

If you join a martial arts association they will probably handle all
that for you but finding one that's not going to interfere with the
way you want to teach is a different matter entirely.

I'm affiliated to the BMAA (British Martial Arts Academy) and they
offer me all the support I need and leave me to my training. They
do have a number of instructors overseas but I don't get involved in
that side so they maybe able to help you with your insurance needs.
You can contact them by e-mail on ashley@... (I know this
e-mail address works).

Hope that's of some help to you.

Trev,

thanks for the reply. I mostly teach privately in my home and at
others. So I have some general personal training liability insurance.
But I am trying to make the move to a permanent location at which
time I will need more insurance dedicated to Martial arts training.
What association do you belong to?
