Hi Everyone,
 
I am selling my mountain bike I brought with me from Italy-its a shame really
cos its a fantastic bike but im just too aprehensive about riding alone around
Istanbul!
 
It has front and rear suspension, disc brakes, high quality gear system and
loads of accessories (bike bag, D-Lock, water bottle, speedometer, tyre pump,
helmet) and can be used for man/woman.
 
I would like to get 400 TL for it with all the extra bits, or you could make me
an offer?!!!!!!

RUN NO 1238

Sunday 21st June – a perfect day for Fathers Day, and what could be better than
a picnic at the seaside?  I crawled reluctantly out of bed (the previous day had
also been perfect for a BBQ, and I am never a morning person) to find that
Doormat, full of enthusiasm, was already sitting in the sunshine eating
breakfast (or was it lunch?)

Peering into the fridge to see what would BBQ, I remembered that I had intended
making chicken tikka, so, hastily pouring a bottle of hoisin over the chicken, I
informed our GM that it was time for a change….  After shoehorning everything
into the car (note:  GMs need a bigger boot than our Postmanpatmobile has), we
set off, via the Metro café.  So many kind hashers turned up to collect stray
hashers that we could have run from 4Levent!!!

Arriving at Queen Latifa’s seaside mansion, we discovered that attendees were
Amoeba, Bag Lady, Bottom Line, Doormat, Happy Ending, Illogical, K9, Lost in
Hangover, Miss D Link, Plonker, Queen Latifa, Shutter Slut, Sugar Puff and
Vaccuum Cleaner, with Virgin hashers DKtay, Marie Claes and Raul Kharbanda, not
forgetting Mrs Wigglebottom of course (who managed to find water AND shiggy to
roll in, have a good trip back, Shutter Slut…).

After briefings on which signs meant what (a waste of time in the event) we set
off towards the sea, and the CLIFFS.  Remind me to ask about vertigo sufferers
next time we go to Kilyos!!  The run took the cliff path beside a wonderful view
(for those brave enough to look over the edge) between abundant wild flowers
(and the odd very puzzled rambler).  There were purple thistle with delightful
butterflies, yellow broom, mauve clover, more butterflies; oh yes, there were
also vertical drops over the sea and scratchy sea side vegetation.

The FA was held on the edge of a drop to rocks (I couldn’t bear to look in case
someone fell over whilst being too enthusiastic, but I should have remembered
that NO-ONE is ever that enthusiastic about FA).  We continued along what felt
like another precipice with several brave (or should that be foolhardy?) hashers
running; until Sugar Puff and Plonker found a path that led INLAND, and
gratefully allowed Lost in Hangover to lead us away, leaving the rest of the
pack to risk life and limb playing on the cliffs.

Vaccuum Cleaner stood in as temporary RA (briefly for once, we were grateful to
notice) and there were a few not very memorable down downs, before we got down
to the serious business of the barbecue.  Queen Latifa provided enough food for
a small army, and everyone else chipped in with a few bits, so stuffed, beered,
and sunburnt, we parted, some to swim in the sea, some to brave the horrendous
traffic back to town.  Doormat and I, after crawling in traffic to the Sahil
Yolu, dropped Raul there, TO RUN BACK TO TAKSIM…. Just thinking about it meant I
had to put my feet up when we got in!!!

So THANK YOU Queen Latifa, Lost in Hangover and K9, for a truly wonderful day
out!!

I think I wrote to you before, we are Hashers, recently left Amman, I arrived in
Istanbul yesterday, to move into a completely unfurnished flat... Mike (Bomber)
has managed to buy two televisions, fridge/freezer and microwave.... but that is
it...
 
I understand that there is a 'decent' second hand furniture area in Istanbul on
the European side (we are living on Asian side in Moda) ... would be grateful if
anyone could let us know where or if anyone is selling any furniture .....  beds
are of particular interest at the moment!!
 
Won't be able to join you on a Sunday for a couple of weeks I am
afraid..................... can't believe that we are living in a flat with
absolutely no furniture.

if you take the Minibus from Sariyer to Kilyos, you get off at the last stop at
a bus stop called "Kilyos Merkez". This bus stop is in front of the primary
school. At the corner you turn RIGHT, walk 300 meteres and trun LEFT at the
corner. Cross the street and turn RIGHT at the corner with the football field /
stadium. You are on Veysel Vardal Cad. now! Walk down the street approx. 500 mt
and turn RIGHT into the first street, Tambura Cikmazi No: 12! You arrived!
Congrats!!
The walk from the bus stop to our house takes something like 7 min.

Dear All Hashers

Thank you for your great hopes in me as the new GM of Istanbul, what a job to
take on!  I have had congratulations from many hashers from our Istanbullers
other Hash kennels around Turkey - I return the compliments with all my thanks. 
I cannot respond to all of you as there are too many so will wrap it up in a
general note.

In Brief
Five of us had a very good meeting on Tuesday 2nd June at Baglady's appartment. 
The main discussions were of the structure of job appointments.  From my
experience of life that jobs are not allocated to one person but to small close
net teams.  Therefore for each of the mis -man positions I am attempting to have
three per slot, the head of the section who reports to me and two assistants. 
Each of the assistants capable of taking on the job of the head in his or her
absence.
We are all busy people and I am trying to reduce the time that each Mis-Man
committee member spends by spreading the load.  Many of us travel overseas or
have very committed jobs so it is trying to get our work and home life in it's
right proportions.

The aim of this is to encourage Hashers to take on a small amount of
responsibility and from the experience assist IH3 in later years or other hash
kennels if they move on.

I am still in the process of building the team of threes.

One of my greatest concerns is the Hash Cash, one of the most important
positions in any Hash club.  I have asked Minnie the Moucher to stay on as Hash
Cash, Trust Me has agreed to be Assistant No.1.  Thank you Tara. I am still
looking for the second assistant so watch out as it may be you!

I will announce further positions in follow up e-mails but here are a few more
that have agreed to serve.

I have asked Thomas (Shutter Slut) Hawkins to be my first Assistant GM, thank
you Shutter Slut for agreeing and welcome to the party.

What are the Council of Elders?

They advise the GM team if any new ideas are in possible conflicts with the past

Kilyos. There is a school for the blind and a primary school and a bus stop at
the right hand side. Turn right at that corner. Turn LEFT immediately and then
RIGHT. You should be on Veysel Vardal Caddesi now! There is a football field /

Hi everyone,

I made it back home in California safely despite my 3 pieces of checked-in
luggage weighing about 70kg total (miraculously no excess luggage fee!), both
flights being delayed, and my family not recognizing me at the airport even as I
walked right passed them (I was wearing a hat).  I already miss everyone so much
and wish I could be going to the upcoming runs and camping trips.

One urgent request - Please erase my mobile telephone number from your phone,
as the phone and the SIM card belong to the company I worked for and I returned
it before leaving Turkey.

definitely want (real) names on a guest list, so start making plans and sign up
on the list. As always, please do NOT reply to me - add your name on the list

Thursday night the latest (I know, short notice but cheap drinks!) -  if you
absolutely need to wait, the real deadline is Friday at noon for the security
list BUT you'll have to send your name directly to: MWRistanbul@ state.gov I
can't help you after the deadline has passed.

Hey Hashers!!!
So, we are up again! The run will start at Queen Latifa*s and Lost In Hangover*s
house.It will be an AA run with consideration of families and still hung-over
hashers from the party at the Marine House..... We need to know HOW many
hashers will be coming so we can provide enough BEER and other DRINKS!!!So,
please let us know!!!
After the run there will be a bbq. We only have one grill. Maybe someone can
bring along another one?You can store everything you bring in our fridge and
house.There is also the possibility to go swimming at the beautiful beach of
Kilyos afterwards!! I talked to some people at the beach. On the week-ends the
entrance to the beach is 10 TL per head, but not if we come after 17 o*clock....
The starting point will be at our house in beautiful Kilyos!Be there or be

Directions for cars:Meeting point is 4Levent at 13:00drive down that main street
in Levent.Pass Maslak, ITÜ and Darrüsafa.Then you have two options:A - you
drive down to Sarıyer and the Sahil. When you hit the Sahil turn LEFT. You will
end up in Sarıyer. You follow the main street until it comes to a fork by a
cemetry. Turn RIGHT and drive up following the sign KILYOS.Follow that road, it
goes up a hill and you have a beautiful view of the sea around the Acarlar
Sitesi. Continue the road and it's curves. You pass some sites and also
Demirciköy and the British School. Down the hill you end up at a crossroad.
Turn RIGHT there to KILYOS. Follow the road and you end up in the centre of
Kilyos. There is a school for the blind and a primary school and a bus stop at
the right hand side. Turn right at that corner. Turn LEFT immediately and then
RIGHT. You should be on Veysel Vardal Caddesi now! There is a football field /
stadium on the corner. Drive down
  about 500 metres on that street. Turn into the first street on your RÄ°GHT -
Tambura Cıkmazı No 12CONGRATULATIONS - You arrived!!! B - You drive through
the forrest and Bahceköy. You drive past the aquaduct in Bahceköy, pass the
Orman Fakültesi. Then you come to a corner where the road continues straight to
Belgrade Forrest. DON'T continue straight there! Turn RIGHT into Bahceköy and
follow the road through the forrest. Turn LEFT into Zekeriyaköy. Drive down the
hill, pass the Göçmen Ranch and just continue straight all the time. You end
up in the center of Kilyos.There is a school for the blind and a primary school
and a bus stop at the right hand side. Turn right at that corner. Turn LEFT
immediately and then RIGHT. You should be on Veysel Vardal Caddesi now! There is

  arrived!!!  With Public Transportation:You could take the Metro now! In

street, cross over at the lights. There is a bus stop. Take any bus to Sarıyer
or Minibus. Ask the driver for the Minibus to Kilyos - they will drop you off
there!From the Atatürk Oto Sanayi Sitesi Stop to Kilyos it will take you
appr.  40 min.Or:You come to Besiktas and take a Sahil bus to Sarıyer and the
Minibus to Kilyos. It usually takes 1 hour from Besiktas to Sarıyer. From
Sarıyer to Kilyos it takes 20 min. ON - ON!!!
