Tryouts for Girls Club teams begin this weekend
in many parts of the country.

The club season begins in January (after High School season)
and ends in early July. Some teams may practice before January 1st.

GUIDELINES FOR TRYOUTS (from the Northern California Region):

What should a player and her parents expect from a club at tryouts?

You have the right to make an informed decision.
Since your decision is binding for the full season,
you should make your choice carefully.
You should be wary of any club which tries to convince you
to join while denying you information.

At the very least, you are entitled to:

- The opportunity to talk to parents, other players, and/or
other programs
- The opportunity to try out in a future season, without
discrimination
- Knowledge of how many spots are available before a tryout begins
- Clear disclosure of financial obligations
- A statement of club philosophy
- Have any questions answered
- An assessment of your role on the team
- Disclosure of other players who have accepted and/or
been offered spots
- Information on the coaching staff
- Description of the teams, goals, practice schedule, and
tournament schedule
- Tryout for more than one club

AGE GROUP DEFINITIONS

18s: Born on or after 9/1/84
17s: Born on or after 9/1/85
16s: Born on or after 9/1/86
15s: Born on or after 9/1/87
14s: Born on or after 9/1/88
13s: Born on or after 9/1/89
12s: Born on or after 9/1/90
