Re: [hwayutaichi] Re: Hwa Yu Practice

Greetings! I highly recommend some type of practice every day. T'ai Chi has an accumulative effect and daily practice will help build strength for life. Daily practice also helps develop the need for daily practice. I've told students that I'm addicted to T'ai Chi. I've practiced it daily for so many years that my mind and body crave it. I think that's one of those "secrets" built into the physiological and psychological systems of the body. Mr. Li mentioned the importance of three months and one year in understanding the benefits of T'ai Chi. Daily standing for three months (or 100 days) allows us enough time to feel the movement of energy and force inside and get excited about what it can do for us. Practicing for one year is enough time to experience the healing and strengthening benefits of T'ai Chi. That is an encouragement to continue year after year.

Good luck in your practice! I've seen many people with arthritis regain strength, mobility and flexibility while feeling less pain in movement.

My practice times unfortunately vary. I go through periods of
practice almost every day, and at those times my arthritis and
associated problems do better. Other times (like now) I probably
practice once or twice a week and feel worse. I'm still unsure if
it's the pracice make things better or if I practice more when I
feel better already. Probably a little of both.

I do seem to enjoy practicing in the morning. After work I'm usually
pretty drained.
