Dear Family and Friends,
Another year has passed, and while students are
escaping school and others are dusting off summer
toys, I will be once again donning my helmet and
spandex for a good cause. Yes, summer has come and
that means Rikki the Turtle is poking her head out and
up onto a bike to pedal 100 miles for a cure.
Once again I am donning the purple and green of
Team in Training to raise money to cure blood cancers.
This year they are trusting me to be a mentor for
others. Shocking isn't it! Seriously, it pretty much
means I am a cheerleader, assistant coach, event
planning coordinator, and pretty much anything else
they need or want to help them meet their fundraising
and training goals. I'm pretty excited to be sharing
the Salem Peach of a Century Ride with them.
Last year I raised $1800 with your help and would
love to do it again! Seventy-five percent of your
donated money directly pays for research, patient
assistance, and patient education. A new program they
were able to implement this past year involves
recovering and remission patients mentoring newly
diagnosed patients.
Our honored teammate this year is a wonderful
woman named Jill Gosswiler. She was diagnosed in May
of 1993 with Non-Hodgekins Lymphona. She has been in
remission for 5 years now. She said she became an
honored teammate to thank all of us who donate our
time and money for people we most likely do not know
and will never meet.
