WOOOHOOO, there's a couple new messages!

My idea for this board came from a selfish place...since I'm not 'on
the scene' too much anymore, it's a way for me to live vicariously
through you guys!

So, KEEP ME UPDATED!

When there are tournaments in your town, POST IT! Even if you think
everyone should know about it already, you might catch someone
(i.e., me) who isn't in the loop! Even though I don't get to play
many out of town tourneys, i just might be able to, so let us know!

Hope you are ALL doing well, and I miss you guys!

Leslie,

I haven't heard of any tournament down here in Austin this weekend. I
wouldn't have thought someone would have a tournament on a holiday
weekend, but then again, these ARE pool players. :) I'll let you know if
I hear anything.

Do any of you know anything about a tournament in Austin this weekend?
Someone up here in Dallas was talking about one, but I didn't get any
details. If anyone is in the know, I'd appreciate the info!

Where?
When?
Open / Ladies divisions?
Anything?

Thanks--

I am so proud of all of you that played in Vegas!

Been a little out-of-the-loop lately (and I'm so sure you've missed my outspoken self) but I can't wait to start playing again. I really enjoy hanging out with you guys. What a crew!

The Women's Open Singles was an all-Texan final!!  After losing her 3rd
match on the winner's side, fighting her way through the one-loss side and
playing for almost 14 hours on Monday and almost 12 hours on Tuesday,
Heather Pulford made it to the finals.  There she met fellow Hunter Tour
member, Kawania Watson from San Antonio!  Both of them played great and
Kawania won the first set 4-3 after being down 3-1.   Kawania took 1st
with Heather taking 2nd!
Jennifer Kraber placed 7th/8th.  Michelle Cortez finished in the 33rd
position.  Amanda Lampert placed 9th-12th in the Masters.

Corey and I placed 33rd in Scotch Doubles, not sure who else did what in
Scotch Doubles.

Our women's team took 1st place in the Women's Open Team event!!  The
members of the TEXAS HOT SA-AUS team were: Shayla Neris, Michelle Cortez,
Heather Pulford, Jennifer Kraber, Amanda Lampert and Teedaa Clarke!

Good Job LADIES! Gotta love TEXAS!

Wish I could've been there, especially for Heather and Kawania's
final. That is just awesome!

I'm sure all of those "foreigners" are sick of Texas ladies!

Hi Nicole.  Michelle Cortez' team won 1st place out of 112 teams.......Heather Pulford took 2nd in the Open while Kawania took 1st....Michelle took 33rd.  That is all I know, but thought you might enjoy a quick update.

Not much activity here! But maybe I'll catch some stragglers who are
still checking the board. I thought the people in Lake Jackson treated
to tour exceptional. I sent them a thank you note, and thought maybe
some of you would like to do the same. I talked with the owners on
Sunday morning, and she asked me if we enjoyed having the tables re-
felted, if there was anything they could do to be more accommodating...
etc. which I thought was nice. Not all of the stops go out of their way
for us like that.
Here's the address if you're interested:

Thats all.

Hi Debbie,

Good question! The answer is yes - if you cannot make
it to the first day, you can still play in the second
chance tournament. :)

Ladies,

I have made a last minute decision to play in the singles in Vegas
this year. Some of you may have noticed that I haven't been out
there in several years, and I really miss it.

I am looking for someone who either needs a roommate, or has room for
one more. I wouldn't mind pitching in on the room, but can't handle
the cost of a whole room by myself.

Is there anyone who could help me out? I promise to be a good
roommate, won't smoke inside if you don't, will keep my space clean,
and am even willing to sleep on a cot, if I need to. I will be there
probably from Thursday the 12th or Friday the 13th through as late as
Tuesday the 17th, but would probably fly home as soon as I'm out of
the tourney (i fly standby).

If you think you can help, please zip me an email or give me a call.

Thanks so much,

Nicole Bacon

I got word today that Tracie is in the Harris Methodist SW Hospital,
Ft. Worth, Texas.

I talked to Mike (her fiancee) and she has acute pneumonia. She is
on some antibiotics and she needs to keep on her medicine, get a lot
of rest and a lot of prayers. He said they are doing other tests but
mostly she needs to fight off further infections and get stronger.
She will probably have to stay in the hospital for at least 2 days or
so. Keep her in your prayers and hope that she gets out soon and
gets better real fast.

I will keep you all posted on news as I hear about it.

Thanks,
Monica Anderson

While we are on the subject of body parts reflected in pictures, I do
not think that the photo of me on the Hunter site is in any way sexy,
attractive or flattering. I am not fat either (I mean, I was not fat
then!), just 5 months pregnant! So please at the next stop, someone
get a flattering photo of me for the website and no pictures of my
butt or tummy either. But hey...after my shots of Amber, I will make
myself fair game to all of you and your cameras!!

In hindsight though, I was able to show the picture to my now five
year old and say, "do you know who that is in mommy's tummy?"
Priceless!!

Hi guys!

Ok my two cents...

First to Nicole....HA! HA! AND THEN HA! HA! AGAIN...
<<<<<<patting you on the back

Second, in regards to the photos...I too was disappointed that there
was not a greater variety of players in the photos, only because I
would have personally liked to have seen professional photos of all
of us, as seen through her eyes, and am looking forward to her visits
in the future (if she still wants to after all this hulabuloo). I
was intrigued with the shots, as you could see the dedication,
tension, and involvement in the faces of the Hunter women. I noticed
the "crime" photo right away...and my personal take was it was
beautiful, artistic, creative, and complimentary to women in general,
We can be beautiful, sexy, and competitive...you know "we bring home
the bacon and fry it up too". You know men are great, but they will
never hold a candle to what the women in the world are capable of
(and in most cases do)... work, clean, cook, have the babies, take
care of the babies, raise the next generation, we are civic minded,
take care of our parents, see to it that every birthday and
anniversary is remembered, shop, take care of Christmas, and get the
turkey on the table for Thanksgiving...We do all of this, and still
manage to look good, take care of ourselves (usually last) and look
sexy (Victoria's secret is nice, but a lot of us do it well off a Wal-
mart shelf half-price as the song says). Nothing wrong showing the
world that we can play serious pool and be sexy too...We are women,
and our life is about taking care of business and still being
a "woman" in today's world.

Thanks for the photos...I thought they were great!

Gail

I have to admit that when I first saw that picture... a few things ran
through my mind.

The first one was... "Damn, why couldn't I think of taking a cool picture
like that!" Being an amateur (again, I emphasis the word AMATEUR), I'm
always trying to look for new 'angles' to take picutres. The
non-traditional angles and photographs is what makes good photography and
good 'art'.

My second thought was... "Nice body!" I USED to have a body like that...
TEN YEARS AGO.. and no matter how much I diet, how much I workout or how
many triathlons I do, I will never look like that again. I'd love to have
an ass like that!

My third thought was... "Thank God it wasn't MY ass!" Of course I don't
have to worry about mine being photographed because mine is just too WIDE.
;)

My fourth thought was... "We should be enforcing the dress code." I
remember seeing this player play on Saturday evening, and since she was
one of the few left playing that night, everyone got a good look at what
she was wearing. As a former Hunter Board member, we worked hard coming
up with a dress code that would work for everyone. As a player, I abide
by that code. A dress code is a dress code and it should be followed by
EVERYONE. There were a couple of players there that weekend that were
wearing questionable clothing.

As much as I think Amber has a nice body, and as much as I can appreciate
a woman's body and wish I had one like that of my own, I don't want to see
that while watching pool. I did a lot of watching from up in the stands
that weekend. I don't care to see someone's mid-section or cleavage or
under-arm sag! Is it okay because she's skinny and has a nice body? I
don't think so. Just like it wouldn't be okay if I showed up in low-rise
jeans wearing a blouse that didn't even touch my jeans while standing up
straight much less bending over. I guarantee you wouldn't want to see MY
tummy hanging out over my pants!

This Tour has about the most relaxed dress code to begin with, and none of
us should try to push those limits.. Nice body or not. I'd hate for the
Board to have to find a reason to become more strict with its dress code.
I like my jeans and tennis shoes... thank you very much!

So, I'm curious... would this even be an issue had the dress code been
enforced a little stricter? I doubt it. Don't shoot the messenger... or
in this case... the photographer...

For those unfamiliar with the dress code, please review the following link
to refresh your memories:

Lisa Brannen (formerly Marr).

We have never met but I know a lot of people that know you and I have never heard but good things about you.  I attended the pool school in Dallas (Randy's) and used to room with Leslie Anne when I played on the Hunter.  So I have been around a lot of Texas players that know you personally.

I just think that it is a shame that they don't realize the greatness this can bring.  Plus the fact that you were NOT paid to spend a whole weekend taking pictures.  And them bitching about when you arrived and that you did not take pictures of everyone.  Well, boo-hoo.  Sounds a little stupid to me.  If you are going to make a point, please make it a good one.  First they bitch because of not everyone getting a picture taken and then they bitch about the ones you took.  I think they should   1. make up their damn minds  2. quit complaining about FREE advertisment   3. Be grateful that anyone wants their pics !!!!

Just my thoughts.

You can ask anyone on the Hunter about me and you more than likely get the same answer from every person.  I do speak my mind and don't mind offending people when I do !!!!! LOL

Just hope they start treating you with the respect you deserve !!!!

Lisa,

Don't know who you are, but thanks for sticking up for me!  I love pool and just want to get the girls some cool pictures, different from the "I'm over the ball shot"!  I am looking forward to Albuquerque and getting to know all of the new faces of pool.  It has been a long time since I have been out there.  I am sure that once the girls get to know me, they will laugh about the whole thing, but truthfully, some of the emails have really hurt...ouch!!

I have removed all pictures showing any skin, curves or otherwise from my website!  Once again, THESE PICTURES ARE NOT FOR SALE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC!!  Anyone who does know me, knows my integrity and that these are not empty promises.  Now if someone outside of the Hunter Tour wanted the pictures, I would contact the player and ask permission and have some sort of commission for them.  We need to get your faces on the walls of the local pool rooms, that is publicity!!

Anyway, thanks again,

Cathy

Ok, I took it as long as I could !!!!!

You women are to be ashamed of yourselves !!!!  You have someone
sent to give you advertisement (free of charge to you, no doubt) and
everyone has to bitch about it.  I don't understand.  I did see the
shot and thought "man, wish I had a butt like that" and my second
thought was "that is cute" as a picture, itself.  Whom ever this is
ought to be glad enough that someone would like to look at it rather
than go "OMG".  Cathy is right.  Wait till she is 40 and that
picture will be her most rememorable picture of her pool career.

That is not my point though.  You girls have someone out there to
give you and YOUR TOUR extra exposure and you complain.  I did not
have this advantage when I played on the tour.  You ought to feel
lucky and flattered that anyone wants to take your picture and get
your pics to a great pool magazine in the first place !!!!

Sorry if I am sounding harsh.  I do mean it to be.  You are
complaining about a little thing when people are trying to make the
Hunter Tour a BIG thing !!!

From the mouth of Lucille, Don't sweat the small stuff and that
you "just have to let things roll off your back" or your life will
be filled with stress and unhappiness.

On a lighter note, I miss all of you soooo much.  Wish I was there
playing with all you girls.  Seeing the pictures gave me many
memories of each of you and sadness because I miss all of you so
much.  Just wish I still could play cause I would have cussed
everyone out at the last event for being ungrateful lil' women !!!
LOL

I'd like to say that I'm offended that no one (save one personal
email) LAUGHED AT MY JOKE!

I come in here with the intentions of lightening the mood, and no
one has the COURTESY to give me a pat on the back.

:) just kidding again.

But, now that everyone has shared..i'd like to add my two cents. I
too think this is being blown out of proportion. Cathy, you have my
permission to photograph my ass all you want. I only ask that you
stick with the reputable magazines...Hustler just won't do. I agree
that the picture was a little sexy, but not in a vulgar kind of
way. I think like Cathy said, the curves were very cool, it was
rather "artsy." This may sound like a double standard, but if it
had been a man that took the photo, I might (MIGHT) feel a little
different. But it wasn't. It was taken by a respected, seasoned
(no offense with that comment, cathy), and successful female
player. Even though she probably doesn't know me, I know her.

I also agree with Lisa. This is exposure. And really, unless it
was absolutely unforgiveably tasteless....exposure is exposure.
Regarding that Baretta chick. Yeah, part of me is a little
resentful on how she portrays herself...but part of me admires the
business sense she must have. She's doing what she can, using what
she has, to get herself into the spotlight. And really, that's
something our segment of the sport can use. I'm not sure if "By
Whatever Means Necessary" should be our slogan, but beggars can't be
chosers.

Having said all that, I think the lesson here is....ready for this???

In this situation, hindsight is definately 20/20.

I'm here all week, tip the waitresses.

I have to add my two cents....I think this has been totally blown
out of proportion....I do not know a lot of the newer Hunter players
as I have lived in Colorado for the last three years....and look
forward to meeting some of you in New Mexico.....but I say this
because my response is simply from someone outside of the
circle.....it appears to me that Cathy was simply taking pictures of
the women in their natural state....their emotions during their
matches, etc.....it is no different then if you had someone on the
sidelines taking a picture, except you are able to view them this
time....quite frankly, I don't care for pictures myself as I take
terrible pics....but it is wonderful to see some of the new faces
from afar.....so I am glad that she took pics at the
tournament.....as far as the heiny pic....I think the mature
response would have been to politely request the picture removed
from the site and express the desire to avoid future pics as
such....that versus being rude or insulting someone....again, just
my two cents.....
