I just wanted to recommend the book Painting on Green Canvas and would
like to let you know how much I enjoyed reading it. Not only is it a
great story but it is also filled with instructional tips for the game
for players of all levels. Bob has donated a few copies for the raffles
at our tour stops so he is also a supporter of the tour.

SOUTHWEST AMATEUR TOURNAMENT #1

Last year a few 8-ball tournaments were held in Texas
for amateurs and this year the first event (now called
the Southwest Amateur Tournament) will be held in
Killeen, Texas Feb 8-10!  Deadline for entries is
FEBRUARY 1st!   Tournament is played on 7' Diamond
Smart Tables and there are several divisions - men's
open division, women's division, men's masters
division and a scotch doubles division.

Open to everyone except pros and road players.  Played
on Diamond 7' Smart Tables!

2008 is here, and I just wanted to wish everyone a happy and healthy
new year. I hope everyone is well, and all of the illnesses and deaths
have passed by for the forseeable future. Good luckto all, and keep on

Attached is her obit that Kim White prepared. Kim has
graciously taken the lead (without being asked) and
took care of Anne's estate, the funeral arrangements,
ran the benefit charity, etc. She is an awesome woman
with a huge heart!

Marissa Hallett from Albuquerque, NM is flying in on Southwest to
Houston Hobby for the Hunter's stop at Bogies.  She is wanting to know
if someone can get her from Houston Hobby to the Bogie's area.

If anyone is available to help Marissa out, please let me know.

P.S. I told her Intercontinental Airport was closer but she had
Southwest Air mileage to use and that is why she is coming into Hobby.

Her parents have both been ill this year so she has been going down to
San Antonio from the DFW-area every 3 to 4 weeks since March/April to
spend 3 day weekends helping them out around the house, running errands
for them and just being there for them.  She is an only child.

Melinda went down to San Antonio this past weekend to spend quality
time with her parents for the weekend.  Unfortunately, her dad passed
away early Friday morning at home.  Melinda says it is truly a miracle
he passed away while she was there so she could be there for her mom.

Please extend your blessings and prayers for Melinda and her family
during this time.

Anne Mayes went to the hospital Saturday morning.  She
has been sick for the past month or so with fluid on
her lungs.
They now think she might have Lung Cancer.  They will
be performing a biopsy today.
