I would be VERY good to A-Rod. I'd be like, Backe who? But I
digress. I bet on Saturday it will be either Rodriguez or Hirsch.

LOL, Lidge's ERA is down, guys, he's been doing good. It was something like
5.7, and now it's at 5.2....
I guess the new pitch is working. I'm glad because I'd rather he get 'fixed'
than leave for good.

Subject: [Houston's Brand of Baseball] Last night's game
There's really not much to say about last night's game. You could yell
about the offense for getting shutout, but what else is new. You could
fault the pitching for giving up 14 runs, but it really was just two
pitchers, not the whole bullpen. When you boil it down, the one team we
really need to beat crushed us 14-0, and that pretty much says it all.
I will, however, make this one startling observation: the only pitcher
to not give up a run was Brad Lidge. Who saw THAT one coming?

A-Rod's agent is Scott Boras. That would make for interesting negotiations
after what happened with Beltran. I would be very good to A-Rod.
I'm driving in from San Antonio for Saturday's game - does anyone know who
is pitching that day?

Did anyone catch This Week in Baseball on Fox today? Rumor has it Carlos Lee
decided not to go with Scott Boras as his new agent because of the bad blood
between Boras and the Astros after the Beltran fiasco. Lee is "very
interested" in the Astros because he bought a ranch just outside of Houson.
Any thoughts on Lee being in an Astros uniform next year?

Carlos Lee playing for the Astros would not hurt my feelings. Might be
rather expensive though. He is a good player!

I'd like to root for my granddad's team, but that would be the White
Sox, and it's just too soon, lol.

Dodgers. I'm not a fan of LA the city, but the Dodgers have a great
history, and I'd love to see Greg Maddux go out with a bang. And if
not the Dodgers, then the Red Sox.

I have a feeling our pitching staff will be up for grabs next year. Wouldn't
surprise me if everyone and anyone will be on the chopping block.

Qualls is steady a lot, but he is TERRIBLE at inheriting runners. I wouldn't be
sad to see him go. :-(

I'm rooting for the Padres to win the WC if the Astros don't make it, because
they're my Grandpa's team.

Subject: [Houston's Brand of Baseball] The Central Race is in the Air
Well, while the Astros don't really appear to be in the race, the central
has become a pretty exciting race leading into the last month. St. Louis and
Cincinnati are tied and being only 4.5 games out, Milwaukee still has a good
change to make a run at the Central or Wildcard. It is going to be pretty
exciting to watch. Personally, I would kind of like to see Milwaukee make a
successful run just because I don't think that they have been to the playoffs
since 1982. Furthermore, I would love to see St. Louis not make it since my
supervisor at work is a St. Louis fan and has been giving me a hard time all
year.
Of course, my preference would be for the Astros to make it but I don't
think that they are going to overcome the odds this year.
Does anyone else have either a team that they expect to win or a team that
they are rooting for to win if the Astros don't get it?

I could never go to a game and boo a member of my team. I just can't do it.

Hey, all they have to do is go like 28-6 or something like that in
the rest of their games to get a shot at the wildcard. That's only a
89% win ratio. It is doable.

Poor Wandy. Freaking Qualls. I can't wait to kick his butt.
