Indeed, it is over .500 going into the break, at 44-43!
Unfortunately, I no longer live in the Houston area, and am unable
to watch most of the games on TV. When they play the Cubs or Braves,
I can watch on WGN or TBS. Beyond that, it's luck of the draw with
Fox and ESPN, neither of which have been very kind to me this
season.
There's a difference between supporting a team and thinking it's
going to get into the playoffs. If you support a team, you want it
to get into the playoffs, you hope it will get into the playoffs,
you follow it the whole way. It doens't mean you actually think it
will get into the playoffs. Your kid can be the most uncoordinated
geek in the state (hi), one who never gets a hit, and you know he'll
never make the local All Star team, but that doesn't mean you don't
support him when he joines Little League! A fairweather fan is
someone who only cares when the team is winning, and boos it or just
goes away when it isn't. I root for my team all the time, I always
hope it wins. I started this club when it had the worst record in
baseball (first year at then-Enron). I just don't wear blinders.
Perhaps we will make the playoffs - I sure hope so. It's sure
possible, especailly with this surge. It's just that a week or two
ago, it really didn't look like it was going to happen,
realistically speaking.

With the Stros there is always hope.
