Cool group! I was wondering if anyone could pass on some friendly advice. I'm
building a 52 Gasser with a Morrison frame and have it near completion, the frame
that is.The body will need a home fabbed floor pan and tunnel. My question
is----Does anybody have an idea how much e.t. can be gained by moving my s.b.
Chev back, and how far?-----Traction shouldn't be a problem{480 H.P.& tubbed}but
a friend and i built a 56 chev. mid engine mount that was untouchable.Did we
just have a good combo,or did the engine moved back 2 feet really make a
differance? The car was wrecked after 2 weeks and we never had a chance to run
it at the track. Any info would be helpful. Remember...BUILD IT AND DRIVE
ITThanks......Clint

My HJ history is with one car-a '51 that I changed out from a 4 to a
six--didn't seem to perform much different. That was in the mid-
'50's. I bought a Car Craft mag then that had an article on a custom
HJ that had been made into a roadster by removing the top and
windshield, welding in a '51 Ford hood over the rear and using a '55
Chev rear window for the front window. It had a little Connie kit and
was really sharp.
I cut the roof off of mine, welded in the Ford hood and added a '50
Dodge roadster convertible top. VERY crudely done and never completed,
but I'd like to try again--this time stuffing a new Chrysler hemi and
tranny in it.
Anyone have a copy of that old Car Craft magazine--circa 1956-58?

John,
I started mine out with a one piece glass nose and then found a NOS drivers
fender and decided steel was the way to go. Have a pile of junk fenders here
will probably cut and weld pieces together till I have one decent one.
