Here are a couple of items for your calendar in the next 2 months for the Rogers Hornsby Chapter.
Tuesday, December 12 - Monthly meeting at Scholz Garden at 6 pm.
Saturday, January 20, 2007 - SABR Winter Meeting at the LBJ Student Center on the campus of Texas State University, 10 am to 4 pm.
We will make plans for the January meeting when we get together on December 12. We anticipate having research presentations, guest speaker(s), a trivia contest and possibly some other activities. Please let me know if you would like to make a presentation. Also, let me know if you have a contact with someone involved in baseball that would be an appropriate speaker.
As most of you know, Norman Macht and Tom Wancho have proposed to lead a project to identify and
commemorate the many previous spring training sites in Texas. Several people have expressed interest in participating in this project. Hopefully, Norman and/or Tom will be able to give us more information on this at the December meeting.
Please let me know if you plan to attend the December 12 meeting. Since the meeting is a week before announcement of the 2007 Baseball Hall of Fame class, there should be some interesting discussion.
Details for the January meeting will be made available well in advance of the meeting. Some members from the Houston and Dallas Chapters may also be interested in attending and it should be a good opportunity to invite others who should be SABR members. Chuck Kaufman has done the early work on meeting arrangements and is interested in providing publicity. If anyone has suggestions for the meeting, please
contact Chuck or me.
