I must say that I agree with Janet on this issue. I watched
Torre's interview on Larry King, and in no way did it seem like he
was saying he said anything in the book to backstab anyone. In fact
the comments about the 'A-Fraud' were said as a joke, and that Alex
knew about them, that it was not said behind his back. So I don't
really see how that can be considered to be backstabbing. As for the
stuff about Cashman, I really do feel that things were strained
between them in that final year. Again, I don't think he was trying
to backstab so much as trying to explain what happened. After all,
this is America and I thought everyone has a right to their
oppinions. I will know more, as will everyone else, when the book is
released and then maybe we'll all know more.
I too feel that Torre has every right to write a book...Why
wouldn't he? He did have many successful years with the Yankees, and
as we all know life isn't just made up of all good times, there are
not so good times too...Why wouldn't that be shared in the book? I
believe that Torre wanted to share the whole experience with the
fans...It's not like he told everyone's deep dark secrets. They are
only sports players, not government officals.
Lastly, I also agree that what seems to be in this book confirms a
lot of what I felt of some of the people written about. I would like
to think that if any Yankee member was going to write a book they
would write about the good times, and the not so good times. Not
saying that they have to tell everyone's 'secrets', just share what
it was like.....Why should Torre be any different?
