i won't argue that nobody ever gets hurt in a fight, but i hope
fighting always remains a part of the game despite this terrible turn
of events. also, i think (and hope) the manslaughter case will be
thrown out of court.

no one will now argue nobody gets hurt in a fight. It is well known
on this list that fighting in hockey revolts me and I have not
watched a NHL (or Junior A or minor pro ) game in over 6 years due to
fighting in those leagues. I suppose now if people simply wish to
support fighting because they enjoy it, that I won't argue with. (I
won't agree with it either but people get their pleasures in many
ways-some extremely distasteful.) But please don't say people don't
get hurt fighting in hockey. (Nick Kyprios had his career ended in a
fight a few years ago as I recall.)
