Hi all,
   This is my very first post here, so I apologize in advance if this post runs
counter to proper hockey-databank etiquette in any manner.

   Anyhow, I am desperately trying to locate the rosters for the 1992 All-Star
Heroes of Hockey game held on January 17, 1992 at the Philadelphia Spectrum. I
know that the two teams involved were the NHL Legends versus the '74-'75 Flyers
squad, but I can't seem to locate any information regarding exactly which
players comprised these squads. Any information regarding the rosters or a box
score would be greatly appreciated.

What I've tried to do the last couple of seasons is to shoot for a release right
after the NHL awards are announced.  The awards ceremony is scheduled for June
23rd.

I've mostly finished the regular season update.  The main thing still
outstanding is the shootout tables.  Also, I'd like to add some additional
biographical data (specifically, place of birth) for players who made their
debut in 2009.  And I haven't updated the hat trick database for 2009-10 yet,
though I don't consider that to be part of the main database release.

Hockey-databank is oriented towards yearly statistics, not game by game
information.  You might have better luck with the Hockey Summary Project
(http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/hockey_summary_project).

Have you checked out newspaperarchive.com? You have to pay for it unfortunately,
but it has many lesser-known newspapers and includes images of pages. I've found
80's box scores in some of those papers. Tedious process, but since the dates of
games are known, it should be doable.

You could also try to contact someone in the front office. I checked with
the Wild's radio/podcast host and he got me to a person in the Wild front
office who had access to the team's copy of the official score sheets and
she was able to scan them into a pdf and email it to me. Don't know if the
age of the scores/quantity you are looking for will make it more
difficult, but it's worth a try. And free.

I believe that I found an error --

Friday/Saturday this week there were 3 hat tricks scored on consecutive days for
first time since 3/12-3/13/1988.

The database actually lists 4 on 3/13/1988, but Dan Quinn's hat trick is
incorrectly listed.  According to the Penguins media guide, it occurred on 3/7
(vs Calgary), not 3/13.

I'm not quite sure if I'm understanding your statement correctly.  I don't see
how power play goals (and nothing else) would be off by one year.

If you're trying to say what I *think* you are, you're complaining about a
design feature.  I wanted the year field to be a numeric value, so I had to
choose (for example) whether to use 2008 or 2009 for the 2008-09 season.  I
chose to go with 2008, and so that applies to the playoffs that follow the
2008-09 season as well (even though those playoffs took place only in the 2009
calendar year).  Of course, in the Scoring and Goalies tables (among others),
the regular season data and the playoff data are part of the same record anyway.

In any case, I suppose the year field could be changed to be something like
"2008-09".  But I don't see any major advantage to this - as long as everyone
knows how it's designed, I don't really see it as a problem.
