Wondering if anyone still has any info on the old NARA group?
I have a few files on NARA and I also have a few NARA decals and
Patches, NOS from the seventies ERA if anyone is interested.
Also, does anyone know of a Rally group in the Virginia area?
thanks
Kevin
Hello Kevin,
I was one of the original organizers and participants in the original
organization when it formed and later became NARRA (after a litigation threat).
NARA stood for the North American Rally Association whereas the subsequent
NARRA stood for the North American Rally Racing Association. I still have
quite
a stock of NARA and NARRA materials from when I organized one of the annual
national championship events which over the years was originally part of the
SCCA series, then NARA, then NARRA and finally back to SCCA until we
terminated running of the event. The event was an all night stage rally,
starting
late in the afternoon and running until around dawn through the north-central
part of Pennsylvania, USA. When I moved homes recently I found several boxes
of old route books, posters, stickers, decals, jackets, etc. from those early
days of selective/stage rallying in the USA.
I would be curious what you might have in your collection as I have quite a
bit in mine old files. The event I organized was called the Happiness Is
Sunrise (HIS) and ran in one form or another for many many years. One of the
last surviving events which were around in the olden days is the STPR which was
run in roughly the same area as HIS except generally more easterly, although
a stage or two overlapped in some segments but was run slightly differently.
Regards,
Walt Kammer
