Re: [HJ] KNEES

Hi Steve

What you sound like you have her doing is jumping UP. Too many girls are great gymnasts over the bar but don't jump up.

So I really wouldn't worry to much about that at this stage. Keep working on her vertical that is more important.

Try some back flips (standing flops) in training to see how well she can transfer the static position into a dynamic one over the bar.

Was she at Gateshead on Friday. Unfortunately I missed the U15 comp. Now that was nice weather - for ducks!!

Subject: [HJ] KNEES

Hi to all the group.

Any help would be greatful, i currently coach a 13 year old girl whom has a pr of 1.61m, shes been jumping about one year but unfortunately when laying out over the bar her legs and straight there is no knee flexing, also she goes over the bar with no bacvk arch what so ever (i call that piking),she has a six strided run up, given all the above im amazed she clears 1.61, its not a physical thing as when doing drills she lifts her take off knee quite well and can do stationery crabs arch her back perfectly.
