Hallo
I'd like to introduce myself,i'm a throws coach specializing in the shot.
I found this forum because i want the answer to what is probably more
of your expertice than my colleagues (throws coaches).
A very impotant point in the shotput is the power produced in the
block. It seems that a very strong block will transfer much more power
throughout the body all the way to the throwing hand.
I'm trying to find a way to determine the amount of power produced by
the athletes as well as to provide a nice que for them to gauge their
blocking power by.
Some throwers in their best efforts do have a loud treading sound to
their blocks ,but not all of them.
What's your experience ? Do you gauge the stepping strength by how
loud the sound of the shoe stepping the ground was ? Is this a good
gauge for me to use ?
Do the best jumps correlate to how strong and loud the last step was ?
Has there been any research about this or something similar (with
power platforms perhaps) ?
Thanks in advance for your help,
