Re: [HJ] coming back at 47

Very impressive. I was only able to grab the rim last year. I'm 5'9" and about 150. I say go for it. We have some common things it seems. I started out lifting also with alot of b-ball. It led to muscle strains .I did manage 5'10" that year at 47.  My 2nd season  (at 48) I did nothing but running and that retrained my legs ( strenght is not everything)   I then was able to clear 5'11" and very close to 6'1" I wish the best and I know how excited you must be to  get back to the sport you love. Please stay in touch Craig

hey craig, thank's for the info.  craig i'm 5'9" and weigh 155lbs, like you i work in the trades i'm a painter.  Last year i started lifting again and messed around and played some basketball, i felt pretty good so i tried to dunk!  After several aborted attemp's once i really tried i was throwin em down!  Before i left i was able to get a nice two hander in, so i know i still got hop's.  At 155 i'm only 10 pound's over my jumping weight of some 25 years ago so i think all i need is to get in jump shape.  Well see, thank's, stay in touch,  kerry myers

Kerry, I came back at 46. So this sounds familiar. I was fortunate enough to win 5 National medals 3 in high jump and 2 in the triple jump. On the down side now I've been told I have a torn meniscus. I don't know if it's my 25 years of plumbing or the competitions. I would advise a consultation with your doctor or a good physical trainer. I'm also curious as to if you have jumped lately. 2.00 is a lofty goal. Only 2 people have done it at your age. Good liuck. Train well. Craig Levine (M50 HJ possibly retired)
