Hi
Ice and antiimflamatories are a good idea. Also consider a buying a patella tendon strap as it will help take the pressure off the knee so that it can settle more quickly.
As to how quickly it will get better is dependant on how bad it is. A therapist may offer interferential/ultrasound which can be a big help. Stay away from injections unless your living depends on the heights you jump.
You will have to be patient I am afraid. It can settle in a few weeks or may continue to flare up under the pressure of jumping then you can be quickly off down to the surgeons table.
As well as getting better you need to work out why the problem occurred in the first place. What I recommend is that you honestly assess your physical condition (as far as jumping is concerned) and plant technique as you may be overloading the knee through less than perfect technique and through weaknesses in your conditioning. You need to check on core strength (lower abs) glutes / hamstring strength - your tendency to pronate - muscle balance between the VL and VM (quads) and between quads and hamstrings. You also need to see how the loading progressed in training - you simply may have overcooked it. Hopefully your technical and conditioning coaches plus a physical therapist can be of help here.
I am sorry to say that the fact that you have been working extremely hard doesn't always mean that you are in good condition to jump - its training both hard and smart that brings the success.
What I can pretty much guarantee is if you try to tough it out your career will be a short one
