The draws were made today for Wimbledon. There are only 2 represents
of the Moroccan tennis after the elimination of Bahia Mouhtassine
today in the first round of qualifications by YukaYoshida (JPN) by
6/3 6/4 . So Bahia was not able to repeat her good performances like
she did at the Australian Open last year and Roland Garros this year
by coming from the qualifications and reaching the finale draws.
The Moroccan players at Wimbledon are thus only Younes El Aynaoui and
Hicham Arazi. They will play in singles and in double together.
EL Aynaoui is seeded 27 and will play a British Wild Card player Mark
Hilton while Hicham Arazi will meet Alexander Popp of Germany.
In double the Moroccan team will play Jurgen Melzer/ Jarkko Nieminen
(AUT/FIN).
Both of the Moroccan's are drawn in the same ¼ with (2)Andre Agassi,
EL Aynaoui can meet Agassi in Round 3 , while the two Moroccans can
meet in the ¼ finales.
The Moroccan's are preparing for Wimbledon in Nottingham Open (UK).
EL Aynaoui is seeded number 1 in the tournament and did reach today
the second round by defeating
Alexander Waske (GER) 7/6(2) 6/4 and will play Wayne Arthurs(AUS) in
the second round. Arazi come from the qualifications by winning 3
matches and won yesterday his first round match against Sargis
Sargsian (ARM) 6/4 3/6 6/3 and will play (6)Max Mirnyi (BLR). Arazi
and EL Aynaoui can also meet in the ¼ finales of this tournament if
they'll win there second round matches.
EL Aynaoui lost today in double with Tom Vanhoud(BEL) to M. Fish/ N.
Zimonjic(USA/SER) 5/7 5/7.
