upsets, where the lower-seeded team topped the<br> higher
seeded teamâ€|in the other 32 matches on Saturday, there
were a total of<br> nine more seed breakthroughs, all
happening in the loser's bracket.<br> · For the second
straight week, the men's AVP title was won by means of<br>
comebackâ€|last week in Hermosa Beach, top-seeded Dax
Holdren/Todd Rogers<br> completed an unbelievable victory
after being down 13-7 in game three,<br> finishing with
an 8-2 run to win 17-15 over third-seeded Dain
Blanton/Eric<br> Fonoimoanaâ€|the Huntington Beach title was
claimed by Ayakatubby/Bacil, who<br> after winning game
one, held a brief lead at 2-1 in the second
gameâ€|following<br> that point, Ceman/Whitmarsh led the rest of game
two and all of game three<br> until Ayakatubby/Bacil
took the lead at 16-15 before winning 17-15â€|<br>
Ceman/Whitmarsh had two match points denied.<br> ·
Ayakatubby/Bacil finished the weekend with a perfect 6-0 record,
but it was<br> by no means easyâ€|each of their last
four matches required a third game, and<br> those four
matches averaged 58 minutes in durationâ€|the longest
match of the<br> tournament though, belonged to No. 2
Nick Hannemann/Adam Jewell and No. 19 Mike<br>
Lambert/Colin Smith, who battled each other for 1 hour, 15
minutes before the<br> higher seeds escaped with a 24-22
win in game three to advance to the Olympic<br>
Crossing semifinals.<br> · Ceman/Whitmarsh advanced to
the Olympic Crossing semifinals in what could be<br>
billed as the Battle of the Witsâ€|their opponents were
brothers Andy and Larry<br> Wittâ€|Whitmarsh of course
qualified by means of his nickname<br>
"Whit"â€|Ceman/Whitmarsh advanced with a 22-20 and 21-16 victory.<br> ·
Mike Lambert/Colin Smith were seeded 19th entering the
tournament, and<br> claimed an impressive fourthâ€|on
Saturday, the duo was unstoppable, defeating<br> three
teams (seeded 14th, 30th and 22nd) in advancing to the
winner's bracket<br> semifinalsâ€|on Sunday, although
Lambert/Smith finished in fourth place, the<br> only match they
won was a forfeit against fourth-seeded Brent
Frohoiff/David<br> Swatikâ€|their three losses came to the
