Rumor: April 9, 2005 - Kayo, D'antoni & Disaster! On the Grapevine it was
posted by an
EXTREMELY reliable poster that Bob Marcum completely ignored Mike D'antoni
after he
expressed interest in the Head Coaching job at Marshall after Greg White left.
Here's what
was posted on the Grapevine... " Mike was an assistant with the Suns at the
time the MU
job was open, he had no inkling of what was to happen with respect to the HC
being fired
and him being offered the position....... I spent 10 days with Mike in San Juan
working the
Olympic Qualifying Tournament with Team USA after the MU position was
filled........... I
hired Mike to be the analyst on the world television feed of the
tournament.........simply,
he was interested, he sent word that he would like to talk, but "the messenger"
was told
that there was NO interest............he continued to express his interest, and
let MU officials
know through various ways......... he even spoke to several reporters in the
market who
called him about it......... being the class person that he is however, he
seldom speaks
about it and prefers to look forward, not back. Now, what more do you need?"
