First, let me say that I would be very surprised if you did not love the camp
and really learn a lot.
I have played sports all of my life...started roller hockey at 49 and need a
new sport at 56 so took up ice hockey...I started on my own without any
coaching or instruction and was at a big disadvantage to those who had been
coached.
Instruction and coaching has been a great help to my game as it was in every
other sport I have been in...there are so many subtleties to the game that
can only be learned in a controlled environment. Also, you will learn drills to
practice to improve specific aspects of the game.
Transportation: I flew into Minneapolis from Naples, FL the day before as I
wanted to meet relatives that live in the area. I rented a car and drove to
camp but found no real use for the car during camp. Will probably do the same
this year and would be nice to find someone who wants a ride and will share
some of the rental car expense. The camp offers one bus run to the camp and
airport...so if you choose this, you have to meet their schedule.
Hope you will attend and learn a lot...I know I did...

Hi everyone, I've enjoyed reading all of your posts and viewing
all the pictures. It seems obvious that you guys enjoy camp very
much!
I am considering attending camp this summer and have a few
questions. First, how do you arrange your travel? Can anyone offer
tips on booking flights, finding busses, or other travel tidbits? Is
it better to go directly to Brainerd or to just take the heartland
shuttle from St. Paul (I think this means you arrive a day early and
even leave a day late)? Also, how would you compare what you learn
in camp to what you might pick up on your own; how much do you
learn? Finally, what are some of your favorite things from camp?
I'm sure I'll have more questions later, but that'll do it for now.
I'm looking forward to reading your posts and the prospect of
attending camp!
