Hello everyone,
Snow is about to fly in our very own backyards. There is
already snow up north and our ski trip is filling up. The trip announcement
from AMC Outdoors is below. If you think you want to go, don’t wait. Call
Paula or me to confirm availability before you mail your check.
Think snow!

Thu., Feb. 21-24. Stowe Area Cross Country Skiing, Green
Mountains, VT. Ski a classic backcountry tour or groomed touring center trails,
depending on conditions. We plan to ski part of the Catamount Trail or a couple
of the five groomed touring centers in the Stowe areas including Trapp Family
and Bolton Valley. Conditions permitting, we will ski the backcountry tour from
Bolton to Trapps (11 miles, 1000 ft elevation gain, and 2000 ft of down) the
first day. Second day will be from Trapps to Mount Mansfield Touring Center
using groomed or ungroomed trails as conditions permit. Another possibility
would be to ski the Stowe Derby route from the top of Mt. Mansfield to the
Stowe Recreation Path-nearly 3000 feet of vertical! Take a break from skiing at
the cabin at Trapps and drink a hot chocolate and eat a pastry cooked fresh
that day. Cost of $235 includes shared rooms in fully modern suites with full
kitchen in the town of Waterbury, near the Long Trail, Catamount Trail, and
halfway between Trapp's and Bolton Valley: three breakfasts and one social
hour. Participants should be intermediate level skiers or better. Other
activities include snowshoeing out the door, sampling ice cream at the Ben and
Jerry's Factory, and shopping in the village of Stowe. Send check to registrar
payable to Jim Scheef for full amount. Payment is non-refundable unless a
replacement is found by the leaders. Be sure to include your phone and e-mail
address. See the web links below for more information. Please call one of the
leaders before sending your check.
