The International Mountain Bicycling Association is coming to Bethel/Redding, CT, for an IMBA Trailbuilding School and you're invited to join Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew leaders, Chris Bernhardt and Jill Van Winkle, in conjunction with New England Mountain Bike Association (www.nemba.org) and the Appalachian Mountain Club Connecticut Chapter (www.ct-amc.org), Friends of Collis P. Huntington State Park and new sponsor Eastern Mountain Sports (www.ems.com) for a FIVE DAYS of exciting trailbuilding talk and hands-on instruction!
This is your opportunity to rub shoulders with the Subaru/IMBA crew while learning all about trailbuilding. Check out all the details below and come join in the fun.

------------------------- WEDNESDAY, MAY 11 ------------------------- 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. AMC Dinner/Slideshow: The Economic Benefits of Trails. Come mingle with fellow trail users and learn about the economic benefits of trails. IMBA's Chris Bernhardt and Jill Van Winkle will give a fun and exciting presentation on how trails benefit communities with examples from around the world.
Hosted by the Appalachian Mountain Club Fairfield County Committee at the Westport Social, held at Holy Trinity Church in Westport. There is a fee for this event; $8 for AMC members or $10 for non-members.

------------------------- FRIDAY, MAY 13 ------------------------- 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. FREE Trailbuilding School Tarrywile Education Barn, Tarrywile Park, Danbury
NEMBA has invites local and state park land managers, selectmen, mayors, and other local town officials for this workshop on trail systems.
The school includes three hours of classroom instruction followed by hands-on time in the field learning trailbuilding techniques. Topics include designing a contour trail, controlling water flow, building effective trail structures, and routine trail maintenance.
9:30 a.m. - Noon Classroom Session Noon - 1:00 p.m. Lunch (Provided) 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. Field Session
------------------------- SATURDAY, MAY 14 ------------------------- 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. IMBA Trailbuilding School Get your hands dirty and learn how to build sustainable and fun singletrack. The school includes three hours of classroom instruction followed by hands-on time in the field learning trailbuilding techniques. Topics include designing a contour trail, controlling water flow, building effective trail structures, and routine trail maintenance.
The fieldwork will be hands-on trailbuilding, so come prepared. You'll probably be most comfortable in long pants and a light-weight long-sleeved shirt. Wear boots or sturdy shoes and bring water, snacks, work gloves, sunscreen, and a hat. If you have any trailbuilding tools--pulaskis, McLeods, rakes, picks, hoes, shovels--please bring them, too.
