Yeh, thank again to Mark. Can I also remind people that on Sunday
we'll not only be doing the sluice, but also tidying the containers
from 12pm....

Hi Julie,
I had a chat to some of the guys and people will be happy to lend you
their kit whilst they are there, just so you can get the feel of a
playboat...
Will be down to sluice Sunday and try out my new boat bought at the
Cornwall Canoes evening. Thanks to Mark for organising this and saving
me a fair bit of cash. Hope to see some of you there.
Just so you know who I am: that mad-looking woman at the sluice -
you'll either see the mottled blue underside of an infrared - or a
fixed grin, depending on which way up I am......

I'm a happy person who's got next week off work - holiday at home.
Just wondered if anyone would be happy to lend/hire me a short boat to
mess about in for a couple of days - they look such fun. I fancied
trying some flat water moves - nothing fancy - and nothing that would
jeopardise the boat. Need to know if I should start saving up - for
another boat - and a shed!!!
cheers
J

Ann and David are up for it. How about meeting at Maenporth and then
we can either go Falmouth way or Pothallow? How about 10.30 meet?

WHAT DO YOU THINK? Let me know. Steve.

Hi Guys, the plan for Friday is simply a paddle from the club at 6pm,
followed by a sociable pint!
The weather forecast is not great but there will hopefully be some
small surf to mess around on.
Cheers,
Rich
I'll be Paddling from one of the beaches at Falmouth tomorrow evening
at around 1700hrs. If anyone fancies joining me give me a ring on
07774036444 Steve. Subject to weather conditions ofcourse.

Leigh Hooper is kindly organising a trip to the River Tryweryn in North
Wales on the weekend of 31st May, 1st June.
We shall travel up on Friday 30th and return Monday 2nd. Accomodation
will be in bunkouses (comfortable, as used previously by club members)
at a cost of £14/night, £42 for the weekend.
The Tryweryn is an excellent grade 3 (poss 4 in places) river which is
damn controlled, therefore a guaranteed level of water. Although
testing in places, these can be walked around, so the trip can
accomodate relative newcomers, providing you have some experience on
the sluice etc. Further down the river there is some excellent scenery
on nothing more than grade 2 water (similar grade to the Tamar).
This promises to be an excellent trip
Anyone requiring further details please email Leigh:

Just a quick note to remind all our coaches that there will be a
meeting tomorrow night at Penzance Canoe Club where our Local Coaching
Organiser, Richard Uren, will help anyone with concerns over the change
from the old to the new coaching system.
Start time 8.30pm at the clubhouse on the pier.
Hi Guys. Just like to say the newsletter is almost complete and will
be winging it's way towards you all shortly. Sorry for the delay, but
I've had meetings for canoe club every night since last Weds!!
Thanks for your patience.

Sounds great, as we had to miss the March one
Sue Ford
After a 2 year break the WCSKE is back on 4th May, with the first
races starting at around 3pm.
The main race will be a distance of 12miles stating at the club,
paddling down the estuary, heading right across to Godrevy
Lighthouse, anti clockwise around the lighthouse, across to St Ives,
then back in to Hayle.
Depending on conditions, this should take the top racers around 1
hour 20 mins.
There will also be races of 6 mile, 3 mile and shorter for those less
willing and our younger paddlers!! Full details to be published
shortly.
This years race will also incorporate Race No. 2 of the National Long
Distance Ski Racing Series, which will eventually lead to the
presentation of National Titles after the finals in Wales at the end
of Summer.
Safety cover will be provided by Hayle SLSC and the RNLI.
There is lots to be arranged so if you are interested in taking part
or helping out on the day please get in touch via the Hayle Canoe
Club Website, www.haylecanoeclub.co.uk
The club has arranged for Cornwall Canoes at Indian Queens to be open
from 6.30 pm on Friday 18th April exclusively to Hayle Canoe Club
(and guests).
Cornwall Canoes have kindly offered for any items bought that evening
to have a 20% discount.
If anyone wants a specific boat, cag or other item to look at that
evening please phone or e-mail Gavin at Cornwall Canoes on 01726
862798 and they will try to get it into the shop for you.
Following this, for those who want to, we will be going just up the
road to the Brewers Fayre (next to MacDonalds) for socialising,
drinking and/or meal. This will be a good opportunity to catch up
with other members and find out what activities the club has planned
for the summer.
Can anyone interested please contact Mark King on 01637 877218 as
soon as possible so he can advise Cornwall Canoes and Brewers Fayre
of likely numbers attending.
Directions to Cornwall canoes can be obtained from their website
www.cornwall-canoes.co.uk
Well done to the guys who came down this morning to enjoy 3ft offshore
waves on the Hayle Bar.... Some testing conditions for some of you
which you coped with well.
Good to see a good group forming again now...
And at last, Summer is here!!
Rich
I'd just like to thank everyone for coming to the pool sesh last night
which I think was the busiest I've seen it recently (Although we
appreciate the 'crowds' won't be to some people's liking).
A wondered whether it might be worth us putting on another sesh in
April, as officially last nuight was the last.
What do you think?
