My fellow bicycle advocates/anarchists~

It has been brought to my attention that, within the body of the below message, I made some allegations that perhaps were neither prudent nor honourable...

John Kelley is, and has always been, a fighter and activist for more and safer bicycling in Hawai'i ~ he rides the talk, the man "shows-up" ~ I wish to publicly apologize for my insensitive and thoughtless words...

I like very much Richard, your underscoring of the fact that it was last year when we visited both the Makiki and the Moili'ili Neigborhood Board Meetings and presented them with our Young St. Bike and Beautification Plans ~ Tom Papandrew was with us then (and I know that you're still with us in Spirit Tom and yet you are presently on a "mission from God") ~ actually Tom was our champion for it was he whom Jeremy Harris had commissioned, almost 5 yrs. ago, to begin an analysis and design plans for a Young St. Bikeway ~ this was shortly after I had visited Jeremy's offices, at which Cheryl soon was present, and presented them both with my Young St. vision...

Tom unveiled, at each meeting, I believe either 5 or 6 design plans to convert Young St. into a safe bicycle and pedestrian-friendly corridor, with lots of trees, a "center median", traffic-calming devices, eventual burying of the overhead power-lines and all sorts of cool shit ~ the outcome was an almost unaimous 11 to 1 vote by the Makiki Neigborhood Board in favour of us, and a 9 to 3 vote by the Moili'ili Board! ~ you were there Richard, I was there, Aaron was there, Matt Yee was there, John Kelley was there, Chris Sayers was there along with a handful of other bicycle advocates/anarchists ~ but you know what, now that I think back, there really wasn't anyone from the Young St. Coalition there!...

John Goody, you're the Man! ~ one of my modern-day heroes ~ in their face, "disingenuous" (I went to Webster's and I now love this word and will ever so slowly introduce it into my daily confabulation [back at you] ) ~ "...the people along Young St. don't own the street", "...bicyclists have rights as well as businesses" ~ lest we forget these very essential points ~ my plaudits to you John for your most recent bicycle trek from Oregon to Montana? ~ may we hear about this adventure sometime?

I like when two of our most venerated, and senior, bicycle advocates turn out to be gunslingers like myself and the new kid on the block, the Annie Oakley, Calamity Jane as it turns out, Naomi Arcand!...

Our other elder statesman, whom I know has always kept a wary eye on me 'cuz of my renegade ways, is John Kelley ~ I like all of your good work John and the fact that you used to ride alot ~ however, at last Wednesday's Young St. meeting at the NBC, I had just finished my impassioned overture whilst upbraiding Rod Tam for his hollow and trifling discourse on how trees and their "droppings" do, both give him an allergy, and would cause the City to incur additional finanicial burden for their clean-up (what sheer nonsense) ~ and as I watched you get up to leave John, you walked right by me without even eye contact nor a tap-out (leaving me with a limp wrist and fist hanging out there), and you walked right up behind a seated Rod Tam, put your arm around him, shook his hand and whispered who knows what in his ear?! ~ wassup with that? ~ aren't we all in this thing together? ~ or is it the creed of the Muskateers, "All for one and every man for himself"?!..

It doesn't matter ~ what matters is that we get Young St. done, or else as John Goody so fervently puts it,  "Where do we start in making Honolulu a people-friendly place if not here?"...
