Why no Hapkido kicks in Hanmudo?
Reply
Well not exactly completely no hapkido kicks.
As you can see in the list contribution from others, there is an overlap in
influence between Taekyon and Hapkido kicks.
<<Taekkyon uses push-kicks extensively, mostly to attack the legs
and body. Kicks to the head are more similar to Hapkido-style kicks (if
this means driving through the target). This is one thing that unites the
different taekkyon orgs in Korea. >>
So not exactly we don't have hapkido kicks completely.
Hanmudo starts with hard techs in beginning ,midway hard-soft techs ,then
higher level soft techs.
So same with kicks .At the beginning hard kicks from tkd , low kicks from
Hapkido ,but as progress in training ,we have Dan Shik Jok Sul, which is
Taekyon kicks which are softer and faster, more fluid.
Ultimately, HMD aims for softness at higher level.
