You would mount the computer on the main bar that comes up to your crankset and
then put the magnet on the sprocket (the one that is closest to the computer).
It has to be very close to the computer.  you have to glue the magnet onto the
sprocket.

Do any of you guys use the cadence function on your cyclocomputer? I'm getting a
new one and would like to have the cadence function but I'm not sure how to go
about setting it up on a handbike(sensor/ mag placement). I ride an XLT Gold
with the S crankset.

Hi Bucky,

I have a garmin, and haven't found a good spot and means of mounting the
cadence. I tried using zip ties, but the top gear is to close to the cover and
the gear teeth strike the ties. One option I've not explored yet is using
industrial lecro, kind used in boating.

Hello SAC volunteers, fans, and members of the meda....only 2 days before
the 25th Anniversary race kicks off in Seward, Alaska!

FYI, we just submitted a major update to the Sadler's Alaska Challenge
website:

http://www.sadlersakchallenge.org

Please pass on this url as it will be the centralized location for daily
results, race reports, Tweets, and video!

Do you use Twitter ? If so, we have set up a hashtag for this year's race.
All you need to do is include the following text in your Tweet, and it will
appear on the website feed:

#sac25

We have also setup a Youtube channel, where there will be various videos
posted daily for the race, there is currently a great interview with German
racer, Stefan Baumann!

Both the Twitter Feed and the Youtube channel are accessible from the main
page of the event website.

Here's to a safe and successful Sadler's Alaska Challenge!

Any of you set up a cyclocomputer with a cadence feature on a handbike?
I'm on a XLT Gold with fairly wide crank and didn't want to waste my
money on a puter with cadence if the cadence feature won't work on a
handbike.

Thanks,

Welcome Darren. I am pasting a message that went out a few days ago
from Geoff Hopkins from the PVA in case you were not on line then. They
are developing a list of races and other useful information. Also check
out the WSF handcycling page at
http://www.wheelchairsportsfederation.org/Handcycling.html. Hope that
helps.
Glen

Geoff's message:
Please check out the new message board for handcycling-

http://es4.pva.org/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=7

You can cut and paste the URL above or just go to www.pva.org and go
the Sports and Recreation to find the "Message Board" tab on the right.

This is a developing message board so please continue to look back for
more information. Also, hopefully beginning tomorrow we will have PVA
Fitness pages up in the Sports and Recreation area which will include
info on handcycling, HC racing with photos and results as well as
off-road handcycling and other fitness endeavors. It's not only for
veterans.

Also, feel free to post whatever you would like regarding fitness
events.

Glen,
If it were me, I would just break down my bike and box it up and take it with
me. I have ridden a borrowed bike before, and it's no too fun.... besides I
would think that the rental costs would be about the same as taking it with you.
Also you would have the freedom and ability to ride right from your hotel, and
when you wanted...
