Hi-
I just joined this group so I figured I should introduce myself. My
name is Kelly and I have been diagnosed with Primary Lateral
Sclerosis (PLS). Now if you are asking what this exactly is...it is
best explained by saying it is Lou Gehrig's disease...but the
difference is my muscles do not waste away and I will not die
directly from the disease.
I took up doing a lot of sports after my diagnosis to try and keep
my disease at bay as long as possible. One of those sports is
handcycling. I got my XLT Pro in July of last year and then that
September I rode in the MS Bike tour, doing over 50 miles in 2 days
(I know...not a lot compared to a lot of you...but it was a start).
This year I did the same tour in July and got it up to 80 miles in 2
days.
In any case, I am here to learn from all of you training tips, where
rides are being held, and any other helpful information you all
have. Thanks in advance, and I look forward to talking with all of
you.
