XLT GOLD and other trunk powered bikes   Message List

Like Seth said, the Top End XLT Gold is a good bike
especially if you have the use of your abs. If you
have the trunk, this bike is going to be the way to go
in the future especially if you plan on doing any
racing. The stock model is fully adjustable and a
little bit heavier than a fixed frame custom fit bike.
You can also get ti forks and axles on a custom bike
which reduces weight substantially. Even though the
GOLD weighs as much as other bikes it is still more
efficient because with the trunk involvement you are
getting more power transfer from the cranks into the
wheel, which helps in acceleration and especially
climbing. Climbing ability is probably what sets the
bike apart from other handcycles. Another plus on the
bike is you can get in a more aero position on
descents which can put the bike ahead of other
handcycles. If you are a racer, this bike or another
type of trunk powered bike is the way to go if you
have the ability to recruit abdominals into your power
transfer.
