At last week's Rocky Mountain Omnium, U.S. Team coaches were on-hand to check
out the performance of disabled cyclists with a shot at making the team headed
to the World Championships this September. Although we don't yet know how many
slots are available for the team, things are looking hot!
On the handcycling side, the players made themselves known, and they include:
- Alejandro Albor --- racing currently at the Elite Team Standard
- Seth Arseneau --- racing currently at the National Team Standard
- Monica Bascio --- racing currently at the National Team Standard
- Matt Updike --- racing currently at the National Team Standard
Other athletes identified who have a real shot at making the team are:
- Oscar Sanchez -- racing currently at the Emerging Team Standard
- Kim Prussia -- racing currently at the Emerging Team Standard
Athletes who are on the radar and pusing to get their times-up (and are
definitely in the ballpark) are:
- Patrick Cottini (HCA)
- David Randall (HCC1 -- a newcomer with big potential)
- Todd Richardson (HCB -- currently leading the AHS series)
- Jacob Heilveil (HCC1 -- veteran wheelchair racer)
