Hakan Sukur´s opener for Turkey in the third-place match against Korea
Republic after just eleven seconds was clearly the fastest goal ever
scored in a FIFA World Cup final competition.

The previous record had been held for forty year´s by Vaclav Masek who
had hit the net after 15 seconds for Czechoslovakia´s in their last
group match against Mexico in Vina del Mar (Chile) in 1962.

In the history of the World Cup, only San Marino´s Davide Gualtieri
had been faster when he surprised England´s defence in a qualifying
match nine years ago.
