Here is additional information about the GVAA soccer coaching clinic:

GVAA Coaching Clinic Announcement

What:  A coaching clinic for interested and current GVAA soccer coaches.  The
clinic will be focused on coaching in the in-house U6 and U8 programs as well as
the travel U10 program.  All current and incoming coaches will be expected to
attend. Travel coaches are welcome to attend and are also encouraged to
participate in coaching licensing courses offered on a regular basis through
MSYSA.

The success of the GVAA soccer programs is based on the willingness of
volunteers to work with players to encourage their development as soccer
players.  Coaching clinics are a great opportunity to learn practical
information on a variety of aspects of coaching.  This GVAA-only program will
provide coaches with a chance to meet other volunteers that share the same
enthusiasm for both the sport and working with players within the GVAA soccer
family.

When:  Sunday, March 26, 2006
  1:00-3:30 PM

Where:  Heritage Farm Park

Cost:  Free

Curriculum:
Interactive skills clinic with practice session ideas.
Handouts/resources for planning practice sessions including a complete training

If you have a wearable club jersey I would suggest continuing with wearing whatever shorts the player has been. We are hoping to persuade everyone to move to the new uniform in the fall.

Hi George,

Thanks for the clarifications here.  Also, did Debi Capella speak with you about
the Sunday session? I know it just started, but we didn't know about it, and
Tess is VERY interested in playing.  I also know it's highly competitive, and
she might freak out, but I still think it'd be a great experience for her.  If
there's ANY room at all on your roster, pls. let me know, ok?  We've been out of
the loop with all the surgeries, but want to stay involved.

Speaking of which, we were very dismayed to read that Brandon won't be playing
next year....Is there ANY possibility he could change his mind?  I'm sure he'd
even  have a shot at captain:  Conley alluded to that at the banquet when he
named two, but said that eventually there could be three or four....Just hoping
there's some open door there (as what happened with Jody Crum):  WHS really
NEEDS Brandon!

Anyway, please let me know if there's any possibility about Tess on this indoor
session 2 soccer team on Sundays....

This weeks JV/Varsity games are youth night @ WHS. Tonight's girls game as well as Thurday's boys games will have free admission for any child wearing their youth soccer jersey.  Players & coaches will be introduced between the JV & Varsity games. JV start time is 5:00 with the varsity starting @ 6:30. Jerseys from any season are fine. Hope to see you there!

Coaches,

Please let your players know that there will be 2 GVAA Youth Nights at
Walkersville High School games this month.  This is a chance for GVAA teams to
attend the Walkersville soccer game as a team, or individually.  GVAA Youth
Night at the girls high school soccer matches will be held on September 20,
while GVAA Youth Night at the boys high school soccer matches will be on
September 22 (note that the blue announcement attached to picture envelopes
given to the players only mentioned the September 22 match).

On both evenings, the JV team plays at 5 PM and the Varsity game follows
immediately thereafter (around 6:30 PM).  GVAA male or female players can attend
either youth night and by wearing their team jersey, they are allowed into the
game for free and will have an opportunity to line up on the field and be
recognized at the game.  GVAA players need to attend the game with a parent or
coach (as opposed to being dropped off unchaperoned).

We hope that both coaches and players take advantage of this opportunity.

3-Mile “Relief Run” & 1-Mile FunRun
to Benefit American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Disaster Relief Fund


The Walkersville High School Girls Soccer program would like to invite
all
greater Frederick area student athletes and their families to
participate
in
a special fundraising race to benefit the American Red Cross Hurricane
Katrina Disaster Relief Fund.

On Sunday September 25th at Heritage Farm Park in Walkersville they
will
hold a 3-mile cross-country “Relief Run” for middle/high school
athletes
and
their parents, as well as a 1-Mile Fun Run for children grades 5 and
lower.

The “Mardi Gras” themed event will also feature several other fun
activities, including a mist-tent, a mini obstacle course, pre and
post-race
seated chair massages, and more.  Frederick County Public Schools has
also
just agreed to advertise this special event through their media
channels,
athletic directors, etc.

Runners are encouraged to please pre-register online by visiting
www.hiveworx.com/run (page will be live as of tomorrow morning) where
they
can complete a short information form – payment will be accepted on
race
day
only, please.  The entry fee will be $15 for the 3-miler, and $5 for
the
fun
run—3-mile run participants will receive a race day t-shirt. Runners
under
age 18 will need to bring the race waiver form to the event, signed by
their
parent or guardian. Runners will also have the opportunity to be
“sponsored”
per mile by their friends and relatives to help raise additional funds
should they wish to do so. All race forms are located at the web
address
listed above.

Check in for the race will begin at 11:00 am, with the 3-mile “Relief
Run”
at 12p, and the 1-mile fun run immediately after. Day-of-race
registrations

will also be accepted, though t-shirts cannot be guaranteed to those
who do

not pre-register online.

Confirmed corporate sponsors include: Structural Systems of Thurmont,
Hiveworx Services of Frederick, Fitness Funatics of Middletown,
Frederick
Women’s Soccer, Radcliffe Realty Group of Frederick, and others still
to
come.  These generous organizations have pledged either financial
support,
gifts of race day supplies, or manpower to help staff this exciting
event.

GVAA Travel Soccer Coaches,

I am ordering game shirts for our travel soccer coaches from Glade Valley
Allsports this week.  Two coaches per U10, U12 and U14 team will be issued a
shirt, paid for by GVAA soccer.  Please respond to me ASAP with the size needed

No, the walk-ups are in addition to the typical mail-ins. If you did not receive a registration by mail blank forms are available @ the Walkersville Library, Glade Valley Allsports, or download one from www.eteamz.com\gvaasoccer .

I hope everyone had a great Spring Season. Please remember this Saturday June 11th is Field Day @ Heritage Farm Park w/ Sunday the 12th as our rain date. We need help with some post season field maintenance, goal painting & we are also having walk-up registrations. Our day will start @ 9 a.m.  If you area able to bring any of the following it would be appreciated:
  • garden tools - rakes, etc.
  • broadcast spreaders
  • wire brushs, paint brushes
  • mechanics tools (for new goal assembly)
The more volunteers the lighter the load! Thank you and hope to see you there!
