Spring Work Day June 11th (
All GVAA soccer families,
I hope that all of you are enjoying the spring soccer season! As the season begins to wind down please consider providing some of your time and energy for a few more hours so that the program can take care of a critical resource for the organization- the fields at
The field repairs and maintenance work that was done in the fall was a step in the right direction and will continue to be a high priority item for the program. The facility and fields at HFP are tremendous assets to the program. To fully enjoy the benefits that they provide and to provide our players with safe and quality playing and practice areas requires an investment of time and energy on the part of the program participants.
This spring we will need to:
-core aerate all fields
-over seed all fields
-repair "thin" turf and damaged areas (some parts of the "big" field and all goal mouth areas)
-fertilize
-repair holes, ruts and problem areas
-improve areas outside of the current fields (as laid out) to increase the playable area to allow for field rotation.
-move goals to rotate the fields to alleviate wear and tear on high traffic areas
-set up a new set of full size goals that are being donated to the program
-paint a few sets of goals
-take down and store nets
The spring workday is scheduled for Sat. June 11th starting at
A couple of items that will come in handy for the workday:
