GVAA Soccer   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #191 of 212 |
All,

GVAA Soccer coaches will be meeting soon to discuss the fall season. I am
forwarding this message to the GVAA Soccer list in the hopes that there is a
parent who may not be qualified to coach, but who is interested in getting
involved with the administration of the program. Read on, and contact me at
metcalfej@... if you are interested in volunteering for anything.

Thank you, John

Coaches,
As we prepare for our meeting, I would like you to be thinking about some
administrative issues pertaining to our soccer organization.

1. George Wirick will be finishing a long volunteer career in GVAA Soccer at
the beginning of 2009. Currently, he is working with Cameron Miller to hand off
his registrar duties at the end of the Fall 2008 season. I know that I speak
for all of us when I say a big THANK YOU to George for all of his hard work on
this program. George will be missed. I also want to thank Cameron for
answering George's call for someone to step up and take on the registrar duties.
2. I am also looking for someone to take the Commissioner responsibilities in
the near future. This fall I will have no kids playing GVAA soccer (Jess just
graduated, Kayla will be starting at the high school and TJ is going to play for
FSC). I will continue as Commissioner through the Fall 2008 and Spring 2009
seasons. The role of the Commissioner includes the following:
- Liaison between GVAA coaches and the league (FCYSL).
- Attendance at FCYSL meetings. These are held 7 times per year.
- Liaison between GVAA coaches and GVAA Board.
- Generally coordinate the program.

I will be happy to work with anyone through the fall and spring seasons to show
them how I have handled this role. Please let me know if you are interested.
This position does not need to be filled by someone who is also coaching.
Please help me get the word out to parents that you think may be well suited for
this role.

3. Age group coordinators. We need to begin to identify the age group
coordinators for each of the gender/age groups. The AGC is the person who is
involved in initially breaking out team rosters. This often is the Division 1
coach, if there is a D1 team in the given age group. The AGC is also the person
that the registrar sends late registrations to for disbursement to the
teams/coaches.
4. Fall Coaches: If you haven't already emailed me with your interest in
coaching, please do so. Include the age group and gender and whether you are
interested in holding Div 1 tryouts (note: D1 tryouts are for U12 and U14
teams).

Thank you,
John
