George,
just a quick update on last night's clinic. I had 7 coaches attend of which 5 were of the U6 program. I ran through some U6 games for them, and a few progressions of a U10 session for the couple of coaches that worked with those ages.
Initially I was worried as when the first 3 coaches arrived there was no sign of John Metcalf, and they told me you had emailed them to say only 3 coaches had said yes, so I thought it would not get many people...a long way to drive for 3 coaches!
In the end John came over at 6.10pm and a few others arrived around then too to make up to 7. I also grabbed a couple of one of the coaches kids to make up the numbers too, but they left with their dad when he arrived, and mum (who was the coach) stayed.
If we are to make the most of the coaches education for you, I would recommend you mandating coaches to cancel practices for the night I come up, as the more coaches you have attending, the better the experience for all, and then everyone in your program is on the same page when it comes to working with their teams. I also think they would then be able to provide an improved learning experience for their own players and teams when they next coach them. Just a thought.
Thanks for your help this summer with the camp mate. We would love to come back again in 2008 and do it again for you.
Cheers,
Matt Fletcher
