Soccer Families, GVAA Soccer is looking for a volunteer to become the Fields Coordinator. In this capacity the individual(s) would do the following:· Plan an annual field rotation schedule.
· Gather soil samples for testing purposes annually (cost of materials to be reimbursed by the program).
· Recommend annual soil treatments (to be performed by sub-contractors).
· Oversee an annual field maintenance program.
Many parents that I speak to have the misunderstanding that the Town of Walkersville maintains our fields (I know I did when our children first signed up for GVAA Soccer). The town does coordinate mowing; however, it does not work the soil or apply
treatments. I am looking for a volunteer(s) who is (are) interested in giving their time to our children’s program in a capacity other than coaching. All coaches and administrators of the GVAA Soccer Program are volunteers. In addition to the things that are visible to parents (running practices, emailing players, etc.) the coaches are charged with measuring and laying out fields prior to the start of the season and maintaining the field markings throughout the season prior to game weekends. As a result, coaches are quite busy. For these reasons, I am hopeful that a non-coach will want to help their children’s program by becoming the Fields Coordinator. Please contact me via email if you think you may be interested in helping. Parents, I thank you for all of those times where you have helped out your daughter’s/son’s coach at practice or games by gathering balls, bringing snacks, organizing parties, being line judge, etc. Please know that your coaches
appreciate each and every one of these acts. John Metcalfe GVAA Soccer Commissioner j.metcalfe@...
