I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays and are ready for a new season
of bowling.  A night out during these coming months are a good way to
prevent "cabin fever."  Please let me know if you're not able to
continue bowling for this season so that we can find a replacement.  If
you are a sub and would like to be a regular then let me know so that
we can put you on a team.  There is also 1 bowler who can only make it
every other week and he is looking for a bowler who wants to commit for
the weeks that he will not be able to make it.  If you know anyone
that's interested in being on a team then have them email me at

Hey Gutter Boys!

Hope you all are getting psyched about this year's Gutter Boys Holiday Party "Fire & Ice" happening this Saturday, Dec 8th!   The festivities begin at 7pm at the Smith Field House.   We'll have the fireplace roaring and the dance floor cleared, ready to go!  Here are a few details to pass on;

Directions - if you've never been there, the Field House can be tricky to find.  

From downtown Northampton, go west on Main Street (Rt.9) towards Smith.   At the 2nd set of lights, after downtown, turn LEFT onto West Street (Rt.66).   After about 1/2 mile you will go over a small bridge.   After the bridge, turn RIGHT at the sign that reads "Smith College; Athletic Fields" and go to the end of that road, which will put you in the parking lot of the tennis courts.   The Field House is the building on the right side of the parking lot.

Food/Drink, etc - Each team was assigned to bring 2 food dishes, with enough to feed 8 people each.    Hopefully each team has now worked it out among themselves as to who is bringing what.   Drinks will be supplied by the league (beer, wine, vodka, sodas, juice, seltzer).    If you want to bring something else, that's fine too.

There is an oven, stove and sink in the field house, in case you need them, but the dishes should be ready to be served from the buffet table.  Please remember to bring serving utensils!

Yankee Porn Swap - Continuing the tradition started at the first party, we'll have a good old fashion Yankee Porn Swap, next to the crackling fire and under the mistletoe...Bring some form of "gay adult entertainment", wrapped however you want, to put into the mix.   We'll draw numbers, then proceed from there.    If you don't have anything to contribute (or are unwilling to part with anything you do have) feel free to stop into Pride & Joy when I'm here (10-6) and I'm happy to give you something to put into the mix.   Kudos to whoever brings DVDs this year!     Please - no used toys....eeeeuuuu

Decorate and Clean Up Crews - Please think about helping to either decorate or clean up.   There isn't much work involved if a bunch of us are there to do it.   We'll start getting ready at 6, and the clean up will begin around midnight.

having a holiday open house dessert potluck from 9-?? Dec 8th as well.

Field House (same place as last year). As usual, we will supply the
drinks from the bowling dues but for the food it will be a pot luck
so that we can save our money for the end-of-year party. There will
be music, dancing and a gift swap. More details to follow so save
the date.

2. We had alot of bowlers who were "blinded" yesterday since there
were not nearly enough subs. This, unfortunately means that a number
of guys will have to pay for the night even though they weren't
there. It looks like we can expect the same for next week. In fact,
if you can't make it then it's probably safe to assume that you'll
get hit for the $13. One suggestion is to try to bowl since you have
6 days until next Tuesday. All you have to do is show up at the
lanes and tell them that you'll be pre-bowling; the Alley will take
care of the rest. The best time is early in the day but if they
aren't busy then I'm sure they'll be happy to accomadate you. You may
want to call them first. Email me with any questions.

Hey bowlers -

You may notice that there will be a bunch of us missing from bowling these next two weeks (starting tonight).   That's because 11 of us are in the Black Cat Theater production of  Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and we are in final tech and dress rehearsals.    The show is directed by our own Matt Meers.

The show runs from Wed, Nov. 7 - Sun, Nov 11.   It starts at 7:30pm on Wed, Thurs, Fri and Sat, and there are matinees at 2pm on Sat and Sun.    The show will be staged in the newly renovated auditorium at South Hadley High School which is located on Rt.116, just south of Mt. Holyoke College, and 1/4 mile north of the Rt.202 interchange.

Calling all subs!  A few of us regular bowlers have already sent out requests
for subs for ourselves for the next couple of weeks -- we are in Joseph and the
Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and we are in the final weeks of rehearsal. 
Consequently, the bowling league will need a lot of subs for the next two weeks
while we are at rehearsals.  If you can help out, please show up and bowl.

My team, Vaseline Alley,  needs two replacements -- one for Mike Vachula and one

Springfield Preservation Trust is having thier FALL Home Tour in the
Atwater Park neighborhood of Springfield Sunday October 21 from 1 - 4.

recieve a $3 discount (because 3 is so queer of a number) for every
ticket in your party - NO LIMIT.

have a friend from Boston who is going down and he is willing to split

Post cards have been sent from the Bowling Alley which are incorrect.
Ignore the dates which they give.  The "meeting" is actually the free
bowling night with pizza and that will be on Sept 11 and the first
night of league play will be on Sept 18.  Sorry for the confusion.
