I think there are probably lots of Republicans who think that way. My
guess is that its their justification for all the corruption, the shady
deals, the "no bid" contracts to Halliburton....
They need to believe that what they're doing is absolutely necessary for
the continuing well being of the country. You can just imagine them
saying "Sure, I suppressed the minority vote and ignored the will of the
people and coddled special interest groups who showered me with campaign
donations, trips, and gifts, but damnit, I HAD to. For America."
In my experience, however, people like that are usually short-sighted,
narcissistic, and, well....not terribly bright. So yeah, they'll keep
this country running....right into the ground.
