--- Thanks for responding. So what is the operational definition of
liberal here? My personal beliefs are a mixture, but lean more
towards liberal beliefs.
I believe that people should take responsibility for themselves in
every situation, but I also believe that because of history and some
of the impulses of the most powerful people to want to accumulate
more wealth and power, the government needs to step in and protect
people from being taken advantage of. I think that we should judge
people on their merits as human beings but I am not naive enough to
think that it happens often. I try to practice that in my daily life,
but I know that some people think that minorities (including
homosexuals) and women are somehow inherantly inferior. Why? I don't
know...
I am pro life, and pro choice. I understand the need for women to
make choices in their lives although the choice to abort is a
horrible one to have to make. I would prefer to have people make the
choice of getting pregnant or not way before they have sex, but that
is idealistic. I am against capital punishment but I can understand
personal revenge in the heat of the moment. I just don't like when
everyone calls killing someone "justice". I am for the right of every
man, woman, and child to protect themselves. That is why I am pro
gun. I also think that owning a gun is an awesome responsibility and
if you mess up, then you should suffer serious consequences.
I believe that the law and justice should be applied equally
regardless of your gender, ethnicity, income, or connections. I do
not like that the rich, and priviledged have inherant advantages over
others. I am middle to upper middle class. I am college educated. I
am Latino. I lived in a big city for more than half my life. Now I
live in a small city in Northern CA. There is more but I will stop
for now. Hope to get to know folks around here and figure out
together why there are so few of us gun toting liberals out there.
