Sure. There's a bunch of us here.
I came here because it can be hard sometimes to be on my native lists,
ca-firearms and pinkpistols-politics. They're both hardcore rightist, pretty
much only conservatives and libertarians willing to say much politically beyond
gun issues, and they can be pretty unpleasant to anyone left of center.
ca-firearms is worse in a way: last time I checked, no one was allowed say they
were gay because that would be "divisive". Pink Pistols at least fundamentally
supports sexual diversity, but the problem with pinkpistols-politics is that
it's become a refugee camp for gay righties who are bitter about being the
minority within the gay community, so is a certain amount of compensatory
belligerence there. I still get grief for being a leftie but at least I can be
openly gay there.
Originally I was on NRA's Guntalk BBS. People there ranged from conservative to
VERY conservative, with a few libertarians sprinkled in. But they were a
respectful group who by and large accepted me even with my outspoken left and
gay politics. We had a lot of really interesting conversations and I learned
how to talk with conservatives in a positive and I hope mutually informative
manner. I'd also be happy to find another mainstream (meaning mostly
conservative) gun rights email list where people were respectful and actually
LISTENED to people of strongly differing viewpoints, but things may have gone
too far downhill in our country since Guntalk (it was closed down in the
mid-1990s) for anything like it to exist now.
Was there any issue in particular that you wanted to talk about?
