Cryo treating a stock Kohler crank,,   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #112 of 183 |
Hello, Has anyone tried the cryo treatment on a stock Kohler
crankshaft? I am going to be building a modified K341 for a .060 over
class. It will be on alcohol and get turned pretty hard. I have been
told a stock crank won't last very long before it breaks in the rod
journal. I can't afford the $400 to $500 for a new stock stroke steel
crank so I was wondering if cryo treating a stock crank along with a
good balance job would get it to last a season of pulling? Maybe after
the tractor is all together and dialed in I can get a good steel crank
later, or maybe I can find a good used steel crank. I am building a
tractor for the pro mod classes in the WGTPinc club.

I will answer my own question, After talking to others they all tell me a stock Kohler crank won't live in the class I will be in no matter what is done to it....
